Im looking for something really powerfull for a corona set up. LiPo batt controler and brushless motor. Anyone have any ideas for a powerfull system, thanks!

Hacker C40 is probably the best brushless motor then either Thunder Power or Tanic LiPo packs. Suggest you also ask the question on rcgroups.com because that's where the most detailed knowledge on this stuff will be found.

Ok getting some where perhalps. If I where to use a Hacker C40-12S or a mega brushless what kind of runtime would I get on a 8 cell NiMH? Looks like Li-Pol's might not be a good idea. What kinda of set ups are you folks using?

My Corona has an Astro 020 brushless and I run 7-cell GP3300 matched packs from battlepack.com . This combination has been problem free for hundreds of flights. The 7-cell matched packs give plenty of power and I've had many flights that lasted over 15 minutes. With 8-cell packs, the power is almost insane. Good luck!

With those NiMH are you running bec? Or off a seperate 4.8 rx battery? I have a e-sailplane and Im using NiCads with Bec (built into the ecs), they said when I got it NiMh discharge to fast and you could loose everything.

I'm running a CC Phoenix 45 ESC and am using the internal BEC. No problems at all. The Phoenix can be programmed for a soft voltage cutoff so there is nothing to worry about with the BEC. The heli will refuse to fly long before the battery voltage gets so low that the electronics give up.

You meen the motor will cut off? I thought the corona couldnt do auto rotations? Or do you just cut the throttle and move it up to half, kinda trick the ecs, then oyu have egnouf reserve power to land? at least thats how it works on my sailplane.

No, the power will just decrease noticably and, if you keep flying for very long, eventually there will not be enough power to remain airborne though there will still be enough power for the radio. The point at which at which the rotors can no longer turn fast enough to create lift is above the point at which the radio will fail.
