Hi,

Will be using a 401/9253 for the tail, Can I use normal size servo's for the rest of the heli or is it best to stick with the mini size servo's ?

I've seen alot of people using JR servo's is any using Futaba mini size if so which one's, I want to stick with Futaba.

Also need help on motor and esc what's a good combo for sport light 3d but will take me into 3d without needing to upgrade, and on that combo you recommend what size pinion and how many cells should I use ?

Thanks

Simon.

You need to use mini servos on the Logo 10, except for the rudder servo, which you can use either. Can't help you with the servos because I use JR's on everything except the 401/9253 on the tail. The motor you want to get would be the Hacker C50-13L with the Schultze 18.46k or Hacker Master 48-3P OPTO. You should use a pinion from 13-16 and 12 cells. For hovering and FF use the 13 tooth pinion (1584 RPM) , for mild aerobatics and light 3D use the 14 tooth (1706 RPM) and for full 3D use 15 -16 tooth pinions (1827 - 1949 RPM).

Cheers, Patrick

Thanks for the reply.

What do all the numbers/letters stand for in the motor and esc?

How do you know what esc to use with the motor or vise verse?

Also what is a BEC for is it built into the esc or do you need a seperate one?

Thanks

Simon.

I think the numbers on a motor is either how many times the motor is wound or the RPM it produces? Like the Kontronic motors have a 600-16, 600-17, etc. That is, those motors will produce that RPM, eg. 600-16 will produce 1600 RPM and the 600-17 will produce 1700 RPM. I'm not to sure about the Hacker motors though? I think it has something to do with how many time the motor has been wound, but I'm not sure.

As for what motor and ESC to choose it's really up to the person flying. The motor and ESC is really a personal preference. Most people will go with the Schultze 18.46k because it has been a proven performer and not many failures. They are expensive, so some people go for ESC's that are cheaper, like Castle Creations.

A BEC is built into the ESC, but it only works up to 10 batteries. So if you use more then 10 batteries, most people use 12, you will need to buy a UBEC. Go here to order one http://www.koolflightsystems.com/ultimatebec.htm

Simon, I just go to fxaeromodels and buy my things. Go to this link, then have a look around. http://www.fxaeromodels.com/logo.htm They have all the brushless motors and ESC's there. They also stock all the Logo parts as well as batteries, chargers and blades. They ship it to me in Australia, so I'm sure they wll ship it to you in the UK. Shipping is cheap for International shipping.

I think 600 is the serial number, and 17, 18 and so on are the windings.

Is a BEC used instead of a rx battery pack ? So your normal flight pack will power motor and radio gear and BEC sends the power to both ?

And you should only use them upto 10 cells ?

Anymore then I should use the UBEC or can you use a rx battery pack ?

For Futaba servos, the ones to use are the 3102's. They're like $34 from Tower Hobbies.

You *can* run a separate receiver battery, but with the UBEC's working so well, and saving so much weight, its a no brainer to run them. Its nice because you dont' need to worry about remembering to charge the RX pack.

On the motor issue...the C50 13L, which has already been mentioned would be a good motor on 12 cells, but later on if you decided to go to Lithium Polymer batteries, this is the perfect motor for a Thunderpower 4S4P pack.

Another popular motor, though I don't think its been mentioned yet is the Kontronic 600-18 motor.

Well i've ordered 3 x 3102 servo's from Tower Hobbies, already got a new 401/9253.

As for the UBEC is this ok the 35 volt one ?

http://www.e-flight.co.uk/shopdispl...ucts.asp?id=144

I think I will get the 600-18 motor which is the better esc to get out of Kontronik Beat 55-6-18 and Schultze 18.46K.

Thanks

Got some more questions

I am going to get the 600-18 motor and Schultze 18.46K, what cells should I use 2400 ? and how many ? and what size pinion should I order.

I want the heli to be smooth to fly but be able to perform loops rolls etc and have a good flight time.

Thanks

Simon.

I would suggest the 2400's NiCD because they are able to dump more current at a faster rate. They don't last as long as the 2600-3300 NiMH, but I think the power output is more with the 2400 's, although I could be wrong? 12 cells are ample to fly with. I tried 14 cells, but my motor and ESC started to get hot, so I quit using them and went back to the 12 cells. I would order a 15 and 16 tooth pinion. A 15 tooth pinion will give you a head speed around 1738.8 and a 16 tooth will be around 1854.72.
