New & Emerging R/C Helicopters > Cypher 50 EX Kit Review

Galifrey,

You say the raptor is 2x more expensive than the Cypher....

I don`t see it...

The raptor is $130 more expensive, but comes with blades, a muffler, header tank, and a driven tail....

I guess you could say both heli`s are just as expensive, or cheap.

Cheers,

Rich

Raptor 50 V2 Kit (4851-K10) $US 330.00

This kit comes with 49 ball bearings, no engine, deluxe muffler (PV0109) with stock 600mm wood blades, metal swashplate (PV0092), carbon base plate (PV0326), autorotation constant drive pulley (PV0379) and header tank with bracket (PV0311)

Part No: GECY50EX

Price: $199.99

Brand Name: Misc. Brands
Category Name: Helicopter Kits
Manufacturer P/N: Cypher 50 EX
Description:
Kit, helicopter, 50 size, no blades

The part`s needed to make them equal:

High performance muffler (PV0109) - 50 size $US 37.00
Main rotor blades, wood 600mm (PV0118) - 50 size $US 21.00
Tail rotor blades (PV0037) $US 3.50

Total: 70 without the driven tail... So they are just $63 apart....

Say WHAT???? Last time I checked, the TT 50 muffler was $65 at Ricks. Where are you getting this great price?

Raptor Rulez

The Cypher comes with main blades, a larger header tank than the Raptor (mounted between frames) and a driven tail, although the way it achieves this is a moot point... even tho its no worse than the raptor 50...

As for it being half the price of a raptor 50 I was actually being a little hard on the Cypher...

UK Price for raptor 50 is £309...

Price of my cypher was £120...

Only upgrade it needs IMHO is thrust bearings for the blade grips which are a TT part at £18... That gets it to raptor 50 spec at 44% of the price..... less muffler...

It also comes with metal frames, better clutch, metal tail pitch slider, metal washout, metal headblock, all metal frames and bearing blocks, tuff strutt undercarriage, metal flybar control arms, Skid Rubbers, rear servo mount and Epoxy Glass canopy gel coated and painted..

Now add those parts onto the cost of a raptor and you will see what price your "cheap" raptor is...

Managed to get Russ Deakin to fly the cypher today and he was very impressed, for a beginner he thought it would be a bargain at £200 ($320) in the UK where a shuttle plus is £180..

His only criticism was the soft dampers in the head for aerobatics...

I will be feeding back to the factory for their comments..

Galifrey,

Thanks for your comments. I thought it came without blades, because that`s what`s on the cyberheli homepage.

I didn`t want to say the Cypher 50 is bad, If you do a search you`ll see I was one of the first people to ask experiences about that heli!.
