Latest Observations...

Just spent a few hours going over the heli and running the engine up, some things I have noticed so far are:-

The ducted fan is a little screamer. it makes quite a noise, but the engine stays nice and cool.

The tail boom is quite long, probably 60 size, so no problem with running longer tail blades or larger mains....

Balance on the mainshaft is perfect with my instalation without even trying hard...

Hitting throttle hold the blades slow down at a slightly faster rate than a driven tail, maybe a little to fast at present, but the gear mesh is still a bit rough, needs some bedding in time... Changing to the JR#60001 may help but then you lose the driven tail which would dissappoint 3d guys looking for a thrasher.

More to come at the weekend once test flown, If all goes well should have a couple of top pilots to give it a thrashing..

((could you fit the gov mags on the top of the clutch bell for a change))

Ummm. Clutch slips, clutch bell slows down, engine speeds up and gv1 calls for more throttle.BANG.Well l think thats what might happen.

So let me get this straight. The heli has a driven tail by not having an auto bearing? Isn't that kind of reverse phsycology? Doesn't sound like the best way to get this feature to me. I think that will rob some serious head speed in an auto. But I could be wrong. I know that is one feature I don't care for at all. But the rest does look nice. Let us know how it holds up to some hard 3D!

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

it will just have to drive the clutch bell thats tohe only extra drag as long as you got a low idel it shouldnt be a problem

Not exactly. It will be kind of like a slipper that is on REAL tight. Which will rob some head speed. Not that it will make things impossable. But you are not going to have a lot at the end to land with. I am sure it will work. But I still don't care for that little feature.

It does rob some head speed brian, but not much worse than the bindy auto gear supplied with the R50 which seems a right pain to free off..

Auto hub is on its way tho..

GOV Option

is the helimax gov which uses magnets on the main gear. I have them and they work as well as any other gov out there, and only $70 from
tower at last check. I have on 30 and 90 birds.

Sorted the governor now..

Put the magnet in the ally boss and mounted the sensor horizontally from a plate I fabricated from some G10...

Should do the trick

What is the mean of "EX" on the Cypher 50 EX?? I was thinking the the EX mean is fully upgrade like metal head, etc

Do you know if they are going to sell a Cypher 50 factory with more upgrades?

Also, what about a USA distribuitor???

IsaacF

They do have a fully upgraded version with full metal head etc

They dont have a US dealer at present, but from what I hear they will want one...

In the mean time cyberheli give a fast turnaround and at a push you can use JR spares for a lot of the parts

They do sell a lot of upgrades for other machines, but the main push now is to get a range out to compete with another well known novice-3d machine....

I think they have that part well under control at this price, just depends if the pricing is as competitive on our shores as well as asian...

Galifrey,

I hope you find the time to run this engine properly before the boyz get to it, it would be a shame to get everyone there, video and all to be let down by a engine that has not been run in.

Good luck, with the cheap bling
