Are you still having the same problem with the bearing slipping, even with the new shaft?Or is it possible that the bearing is turning in the clutch? My replacement bearing was not the tightest of fits in the clutch,
and I used liberal amounts of locktite just to make sure it stays put.

Yep still having the same problem . I think I identified the reason for this ... It looks like the clutch was machined taper where the bearing seats . I measured it an found it 10.07mm at the top and 9.98 at the bottom. The bearing drops in with ease about 3/4 of it's length and only needs to be pressed in about the last 2 - 3mm .

Cyberheli has allready sent me the replament parts to fix this . It is afterall still new and unflown . Let's hope the new parts were made correctly .

Have a look at the beginning of this review ... (page 4 near the bottom)

Galifrey received a free uprade package from the manufacturer and included in it was a replacement clutch .

Could it be that the manufacturer knows about this problem and yet still supplies dodgy parts with the kits?

after a year (nearly ) of flying the heli
i have now got to change the cooling system
the fan will no longer stay in place
so am taking a look at the raptor 30/50 fan system to see if i can make it fit
any other ideas would help
or anyone trying the same thing

I'm still not flying mine , but I saw that this cooling system's allignment with the belt is not to good . I'f made and unit to adjust the whole fan unit for correct allignment . So now I have an adjustment screw . I'll see if it works and report back . I saw the pics of the heli that Cyberheli built themselfs and they used alluminium to make mounting brackets for the fan .

Bugsb,
I also intend to use a cooling fan of some other heli, as I cannot be bothered to play around with the supplied system any more.I have a
Shuttle fan which I may try unless I buy a Raptor fan as you suggest.

As JAN the MAN said, the alignment is poor and as Bugsb noted it does get worse with use.Although Cyberheli seem to have used some aluminium to support the mountings, I am still not overly happy with the "O" ring drive system. The ratio on the fan is just under 2 to 1, so
the fan is being driven at around 30,000 rpm plus. The last time that I spoke to Helibits, they said that they were possibly going to change to a conventional cooling system on their Voodoo heli, the Voodoo being a varient of the Cypher.

you have just given me an idea
a friend has 3 shuttle + helis that he has used for spares
so i will ask him if i can borrow the parts to see if thay will fit or make them fit
will let you know how i get on with it
if not will try the raptor parts

i have just had a look at the shuttle plus fan and shroud
it looks like it will fit into the frame with no trouble
will need 2 straps (carbon or ali) fitted across to hold into place
will try tonight when i get back from flying and see if i can post some pictures (if all fits well )

i had a bit of time on my hands so i had the engine out to have a good look
the shuttle fan shroud fits ok ( no problem fitting that
but the clutch will not seat on the fan without drilling out the top
i also have a heavy duty raptor clutch that fits but again will not fit on the fan without drilling
will need the lineing to be sanded down a bit but that is not a problem
so i will have to wait for the raptor fan to turn up
seeing as the clutch is raptor it looks more promissing

i am trying to make this all fit so as we will not have any major ajustments
just a bolt on and go
any help out there as i will not get the raptor fan untill late next week

the one thing i did not have is a shuttle clutch
if this fits the main clutch bell then the shuttle plus system will work
you will have to re drill the engine mounting holes a bit higher
or pack the main fan for the clutch to reach the bell
if anyone has a shuttle clutch that thay can try it would help

I don't know what the difference is on a Shuttle plus fan, but my Shuttle fan is from an old Shuttle ZX.All I would need to do to fit this fan, is to machine off the bottom couple of cm of the Cyphers aluminium hub,
still allowing me to use the original clutch. The Shuttle ZX shroud would need slight modification to go over the cylinder head, but that is about it.

HI Guys ,

I finaly have my Cypher reassembled with the new clutch from Cyberheli . Hopefully this weekend would be the maiden flight . The new clutch I got is a different design to the original Cypher one .

I did give Cyberheli the part number for what I thought would be the upgrade clutch . So far it still survived all my starting attempts.

I hope it lasts !

I see that the manufacturers offer an all metal head for the Cypher and what I also saw on that pic in Galifrey's post of the upgrades , was another head .

Mine is now fitted with JR 3d head , and I get allot beter pitch range now without binding .

I will post some pics soon of my Cypher . It looks cool with the new canopy on .

well it works
the raptor fan plus your old clutch all fits great
i have used the shuttle shroud and made a little add on to go a little over the head
if i get time next week end i will give it a good run around the field
apart from the add on it is a bolt on and go

Built in Engine flooding protecter !

This works Great !

I Started my Cypher for the first time yesterday for a test hover . Silly me I had the Gyro reversed and so the tail tried to spin on take off . No problem , we shut her down and changed the gyro setup . I don't have a fuel shut-off valve on the fuel line and when I parked the heli on an incline it flooded the carb .

Again idiot me tried to start the flooded motor and ended up breaking the one-way bearing again ! So here we go again ...Clutch number 2 , bearing number 2 !

I'm pretty sure that the engine flooding trick contributed to the early failure of my first bearing too.The fuel shut off valve, or something similar, is a must have on the Cypher.Next week , hopefully, I will be fitting a Shuttle fan on my Cypher, then have a look at making a taller block for the head.

I still have one bearing in stock , so I'll start stripping the heli tonight .

By now I can strip the engine out blindfolded . Just the MP II exhaust that is a bit of a battle , but believe me I had lots of practice .

i have know put a gall of fuel through the heli since the fan upgrade
so far every thing is working fine
the engine also seems to be running better know that it has a constant air flow
as said after a year the o ring started to come off
well worth it

Cypher 50 or Macro 50 parts

Hello,
Would any of you be interested in buying parts/kits for the cypher 50 stateside? I'm considering setting up aUS distributor for the Macro 50 kit, and replacement parts, as understand it, the Macro is the next version (or upgraded version) of the Cypher 50, so many parts would interchange and some would be upgrades. How many people are flying these? And more importantly how many people would be interested in the Macro 50 kit? Just Curious, nothing serious happening just yet. Thanks!

Cypher mod

I've almost completed the latest modifications on my Cypher to get the thin in the air . I went all out replacing every part from the engine up to under the bearing block with JR voyager 50 parts .

The great thing ins that all these parts fit without any modifications to the air frame or the parts themselfs . Even the holes on the fan shroud line up perfect to holes in the stock side frames .

I will fly the heli this weekend hopefully for the first time .

Hope to have good news on monday for you !
