Going well tho...

Head Comes Ready assembled, no thrust bearings tho, looks like R50V1 thrust races will fit...

Fan drive belt is an O-Ring dont know how the hell I am gonna fit a governor magnet tho

Nice metal bearing blocks and substantial looking clutch

The ball raced cooling fan looks good...

More to come still uploading

The kit and shipping etc came to $265 which is about £160

Anyway on with the pics

Building the upper frames

More assembly note the bearing holders are upside down, changed later..

Upper and lower frames partly completed

Upper and lower frames completed... Note the bolt in the end of the washout block, that runs in a slot on the mainshaft for driving the washout.

Main Problems encountered so far, With the OS50 insitu access to the bottom exhaust bolt is nigh on impossible...

The tank is not insluated from the frames by any rubber or plastic, I fear for its longevity.. Only time will tell.

More pics to come

Electronics getting fitted now, ccpm push pull so the servo arms are parallel to the bellcranks..

Bit of bling here, metal centre headblock, metal flybar carrier, metal swash, metal washout... Poor quality blade holders, may well need to be upgraded if to be flown hard...

The tail assembly with possibly the weirdest linkage I have ever seen...

Reversed the tail blade grips to trailing edge control as the pitch range was all wrong for the torque...

could you fit the gov mags on the top of the clutch bell for a change, drill into it a bit... and mount the sensor from the top frames upside down.....or is this a stupid idea

Johnboy

that might work, at present I am looking at mounting the sensor horizontally and drilling into the side of the fan drive boss....

Anyway, the bird is finished so time to go through a few likes and dislikes so far...

Likes:-

Fan is nice and solid, and the whole mechanics are also nice and solid.
Metal Tail Boom Clamp standard
Carbon Boom Supports Standard
Metal Swash
Metal Washout with clips to retain the pins
Metal Flybar Control Arms
Stainless Steel Pushrods all round
Fully Ballraced
+10 to -10 easily achieved with minimal fuss.
Glass Canopy
Very smooth Tail Pushrod
Main and Header tanks inside frames
Skid Rubbers Included
Nice Blue Anodised Skids
Tuf-Strutt style undercarriage
Servo mount for Mixture Servo

Dislikes:-

Chinese Manual with poor Pictures (have to refer to exploded diagrams at back all the time)
No instructions for servo mounting and pushrod lengths
Tail Pitch Control mechanism is just plain weird...

Tank Mounts Doubtful on longevity..
Did I mention the poor manual
No Provision for Governor Magnets.
No Spragg for Autos

And here is the final article...

I think she is quite attractive... If it flies as well as a Hawk/Shuttle etc then it could be the bargain of the century... but wait, its a 50 not a 30...

You could go with an optical GV sensor.

It has an auto bearing ?
Does it seem to have a driven tail for autos?

Mainshaft is 8 ? 10 ? 12 mm?

Thanks,
Jerry

What are the frames made out of?

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

I've seen that type T/R pitch change somewhere in the past..just cannot remember where.

I think I saw a similar T/R pitch change one on a Kavan Lunch Box Aluminum frame Jet Ranger.

But this one look better. Maybe this set up prevent happening the problem the Falcon/Raven 50 experience on the Tail that made the blade holder touch the plastic case and explode everything.

I think for what I have saw here is a very good deal.

Galifrey, congratulantion on your fast review.

I had fly it generally in Hong Kong.

I feel the plane is not very stabile, this may be caused by the plastic control arm is not strong enough or may be we need more time to understand the set up of the plane.

For outlook and price, it is very acceptable.

As i am not a Smart 3D plot, so I can not comment on this stage.

Do any one have experience of flying this?

it appears that the balance is between maximum performance and minimum crash cost. A lot of the bling is stuff that tends not to break if a blade hits the frozen tundra. The video on the website is just plane old nuts. Almost like a helicopter comedy of the three stooges.

It doesnt have an auto bearing, so it does have a driven tail it is thought that JR#60001 will fit it, just awaiting confirmation
