I bought two of these batteries for my HB and charged them with a Hobbieco MKII field charger hooked up with a Radio Shack 3 Amp power supply. I set the charger at 1.0 Amps and charged as usual. But after only 4 charges the batteries are dead. When I plug them into my HB the bird will not even get off the ground. and I also notice that one of the three cells is very hot but the other two are not. What happen did I do something wrong when I charged them. To much amperage? They were very expensive and Would appreciate any help that you can give.

What is the current rating of the cells. If one of the cells is getting hot, and the other two are not, then you have either a bad cell, or unmatched cells. You will need to either send the battery back, or pull it apart to measure the individual cell voltage. You will probably find the cells are uneven voltage.

The maximum you can charge the current Lithium polymer packs is 1C. So a battery with 850 mAh capacity should be charged at 850mA max, 1200 mAH should be charged at 1200 mA max and so on.

I sure hope you are aware that Lithiums are not "charged as usual", they can NOT be peak charged. They must not be charged past 8.4 V or4.2 depending on the cell count.
