Has anyone every tried cutting open some glow sticks and brushing it on a heli? How does it turn out?

The chemical looses it's glow in a very short time. The chemical runs like water, so I don't know how much would stay on the heli.

I have injected it into some fuel line mounted on the heli before, worked out kind of like the glow wire, only much dimmer.

I think it was Scott Gray who uses a syringe to inject the chemical into hollow translucent tail blades.

Kinda like when we used to wipe "fire flies" on our clothing (boy that was a long time ago)

Better yet...

Go and get yourself a small jar of phosphor essence (glow in the dark) paint usually found at a craft store. You would have to take and strain the granules out of the paint with fine mesh screen.Wash the granulated glow material and use a mortar-pestal to grind it super fine after it's dry. When the powder is super fine, you can add it to your favorite clear coat (between coats) as long as you cover it with a coat.Be sure to put in a bright light before flight .

SafeCracker,
That's a good idea! Have you tried this? Why not just blend the ground Phosphor into the clear and run it through the spray gun?

We have a pilot here in the NW who has cut open about 4 glow sticks and poured the stuff into an empty fuel jug 1/2 full of water, At night he connects the jug to the heli front skid with a short rope with a big loop. At about 800+ feet up he piroets fast and the jug is earth bound. The glowing bottle dropping at over 100 mph is a sight ot see. The sound of the impact and the florecent explosion - way cool.
