Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Fury fuel tank

Just a heads up for fury owners. Please check the double sided tape holding the fuel tank in place. The adhesive tape will lose its grip, causing the tank to slide forward and pinch or tear the fuel tubing at the vent side. End result, a flame out during some inverted or pirouetting maneuver .

Any suggestions for some good double sided tape, that will hold up to exhaust residue during backwards flight?

I have not seen the furry up close so I do not know if this would work. But how about some velcro and tie wraps.

Glenn, there is a velcro wrap around the tank to hold it up against the double sided tape. The tape is supposed to keep the tank from shifting forward.

Pete - how tight did you have the velcro? My tank is so tight, I don't think I could rip it off by hand.

Chienp,

I have velcro where the tape goes and have had no problems in 2 months of flying. I am running the YS80 and the pressure expands the tank and pushes the tank even tighter against the Velcro. In addition, if you need to work on something you can remove the tank easily not so with the tape. Just my two cents! Hope this helps.

Guys,

Get you some of that thin, double-sided BoLink servo tape. We have used it for years to attach Hayes 2 ounce header tanks to the side of the main tank.

If you carefully and THOROUGHLY clean both mating surfaces, it ain't coming loose; period. This is some stout stuff.

To get it off when the time came, we would have to carefully force a screwdriver between the two tanks and slowly pry to separate the two. Then it is a laborious process to peel the remnants back on itself to get it off. It will come off this way, after a lot of work.

But in regular use, it isn't going anywhere; IF you clean the mating surfaces properly before mounting.

One more thing you can do on your fuel tank.
Get some heat srink tubbing and add this at your fuel nipples.
at the tank fead and return, should be 3 inches long.
if the tank moves the heat srink will protect the fuel line from cracking.

"Bolink tape" is that something you can get from hobby stores, or online stores? I have never heard of it before.

BoLink servo tape is just that; intended for sticking servos in odd places.

It is quite thin (3/32" or so) and has some kind of gorilla adhesive on both sides.

Your better heli shops carry it, and any place that sells R/C cars/trucks should have it as well.

Naturally, The Evil Empire has it if all else fails...

I hope I got that right... lot of spaghetti there.
