Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > Removing washout arms...

I have a small problem that I'm sure some people would have the answer to...

I need to remove the washout assembly from the mainshaft of my Fury. It is attached to the swash via two ball joints but I can't fit my ball joint remover tool into the area given the lack of clearance.

Is there enough clearance to unscrew the ball link from the swash with the washout arm still attached? Or is there a trickiew way to remove the arm from the ball without damaging it in any way?

If you are worried that you might break one then just heat them up with a hairdryer and they will remove easier then. Lateron, just snap them back on cold when your ready.

Madcow,

I would take a small screwdriver and stick it behind the links and pull with both hands toward you. This is the only way I was able to remove mine...If I wasn't clear enough email me .. Hope this helps!

If you will look closely at the swash plate of the Fury you will see "indents" on the inside of the outer swash ring. Rotate the swash inner ring around untill the mixing arm link is at this location and the ball link tool (well some of them) will fit at this location. If not, as stated in an earlier reply, put one side of the ball link plier to the outside of the outer ring with the mixing arm link lined up at this relieved area.
This clearance lets the end of the link slip over the ball.

Hope this helps!!

Thanks

I got them off pretty easily using my ball link pliers with the fork behind the link and the other part outside the swash, as was suggested.

Thanks!
