Can anyone tell me how to mount the magnet(s) on a G23 Xcell gasser? I have the all-aluminum fan, but it seems awfully thin to be drilling holes in it. Also, where and how is the sensor mounted? I'm using a GV-1 on my Raptor 30 and it has me spoiled!

I mounted the sensor , using the stock mount, slightly modified to fit on one of the holes in side above the right motor mount. It is the hole in the flat area above the motor mount , I cut the sensor mount to fit, mounted it then marked the fan for the magnet. I use all alum fans on all the Xcells, don't worry about the thinness just drill it deep enough for the magnet to sit flush. Drill a smaller (<1/16) hole through the center out the top to allow the excess epoxy to escape.

I set one up for a friend just like Dave did. I used the larger mount, and cut the bottom part off. It mounted with one 4mm bolt to the boss on the rite side of the engine, forward and closest to the fan. The sensor bracket ended up being at an angle, like 20-25 degrees facing aft. There is enough adjustability in the sensor to have it face straight up, though I may have slotted the bracket to allow the sensor to rotate some more. I cut a hole in the fan shroud bottom plate to allow the sensor tip in. I don't remember if I used a standard or Radio Shack magnet, I think I used a standard one close to the edge. I think I used some JBW or red Loctite at the point where the bracket met the engine boss to keep the bracket from rotating. The hole in the shroud plate came in pretty close to the middle between the upward facing bosses to which the shroud plate mounts.

He has been using it ever since with no problems. GV1's on gassers are a great thing. The engine will run cooler if it is always running at high speed.
