It seems like Ace is wrangling all these kids, who are very talented, and missing the boat on some long time Raptor supporters. They do not have a very good support system around the country. The one person who I think many of us with a Raptor has heard of one way or another is Michael Prewitt who did the raptor technique website, I am sure there are others but I got a great deal of info from his website.....Ace should learn that the best performers are not usually the best teachers.......

When was the last time you attended an event for instance in the Southern US and ran across an Ace Rep?

Why do they not help people like that,,,,,,I can admire the talented,,,but I more admire the guy who will sacrifice his flying time to help setup and teach multilple people.....

Disclaimer: So I don't get flamed,,,,,I am not saying the Szabos, and the other new kid are not talented,,,because they are very talented.....

What do the rest of you think.......

Thanks

Charles

I agree, when it comes to building, setting up, repairing, operating, etc. a Raptor Raptor Technique is the best.

If it's not there, you can always ask on RunRyder!

chas1025,

I can understand your point when it comes to rep support nationwide but I think it's difficult for heli manufacturers to be able to do that. It would be too easy to become a representative then. In most cases, when someone needs help and lives in an area where there are no reps or nobody that is experienced, they come here to RR for advice.

I totally disagree. You seem to be implying that Alan Jr, Danny and Ian Crane "The new Kid" don't know squat about set up techniques and are bad teachers when you don't even know them personally. Have you ever spoken to them or asked them a tech question at a Fun Fly or bothered to even PM them a question about a Raptor? You'd be suprised on what knowledge they poses. There's a reason why Thunder Tiger sent the Szabo's to visit their facilities in Taiwan. Also how do you know that these kids don't help out the needy and sacrifice their flying time at a fun fly or at their local field? I can say that these guys go out of their way to help someone out when they are asked for help. One example at the recent San Diego fun fly, Alan Jr, Danny and "The New Kid" spent about 3 hours of their flying time helping a little 11 yr old (Jimmy) get his Raptor set up. Why? Because Jimmy asked for help.

Click here and see for yourself. I made the video ultra short

You make it sound like that reps are supposed to go and ask people if they need help while it should be the other way around. I find that most people at Fun Flies are either too shy or intimidated to ask help from reps when they shouldn't at all. They don't bite.

Here we go,,,,,,

Remember when they teach you how to be a good multiple choice test taker and read clue words,,,,,,,I said usually, not always concerning the teaching aspect....In addition I tried to make it clear that I was not making any derogatory comments toward the teen team and their skills.

I tried to specify in the original post that I was not challenging their talent, just posing the question as to why Ace is going with this bling bling thing,,,,and not looking for their long term supporters. In response to your mentioning Szabos going to Taiwan,,,,,think about that from the marketing aspect of things,,,,you have two talented American teens flying the helis and you need to take someone to a place where the helis are quite popular.....It was the bling bling thing,,,,,Nothing wrong with it, smart aspect of marketing.

On the comment concerning it becoming too easy to become field reps,,,,,,if they have "any" I have not seen a single one at all of the FF's I attended in the South this summer. Ok,,you have me on reps at IRCHA,,,they did have them there. I just think that Ace should look more at the aspect of product loyalty in which they have a few people in different parts of the country who enjoy the raptors and attend events in support of the product.

Jeff Green has done an amazing job creating product loyalty in the correct manner,,you will rarely if ever hear of anyone saying anything bad about Hirobo products,,,but you do see guys talking bad about MinAir, Century, Ace,,,,,and Jeff Green will be the first to admit he doesn't really have top name pilots flying his stuff,,,

This is just a discussion provoking post,,,,,not ragging on anyone's ability.

Thanks

Charles
