I've had geat support from ZB at Esprit Models in Florida. Both Batteries and Chargers: 4 sets of TP LiPo's and 2 Schulze 6 -636+'s . . .Great guy to deal with!

Schulze charger

Just got a new one model ISL 330D.
Good luck if you need information at schulze web site. !!!
I want to charge two batteries at the same time (Lipoly 3S 250 for a bumble bee sub micro-heli) and this why I choosed this brand even if it is $$$
Now on these advertisement page they say that you can charge two batt. at the same time, except and this is in the manual you need 13.8V nominal. Now check your car battery!!! at 12.5V that' about the max.
If you plug the two together which is the interesting thing about this charger you get a low battery warning and no charging on the port 2
So, and this is more practical for me because I can fly in my back yard I wanted to get an AC-Dc power supply. Contacted them and send them all the spec for a Zurich 0 to 15 V adjustable 25A rated plus all technical spec, and asked them what they tought, since in their manual even tough they don't recommend using a power supply they say that it could work. I am brand new into this let's say not cheap hobby...and I needed info!

The answer from Matthias Schulze in person: NOTHING
!
Wow that's customer service. And I am not talking about all the other question I had for them.
So I am not denying the quality of this product but unless we have a good site like this one you are on your own with these people.

Lockheed: I have a personal experience with Schulze support and it took about 2-3 days to process. I don't want to protect them but please don't forget that they have maybe 500-1000 emails every day so it takes some time to answer.
By and large any AC/DC converter which is suitable to supply enough current (according to your charge rates) and has filt./stab. is OK. This means 25A is more than enough.
The problem with car batteries voltage has nothing to do with Schulze or any other charger manufacturer. It is simply a fact and either you buy a proper DC/DC converter (in order to charge higher than nominal voltage) or you have to charge it at home.

Hi
I know you don't recommend an external AC-Dc power supply for charger model ISL 6 series (330D).
However what do you think of these spec:

Short Circuit & Overload Protected. 6' line cord. With Binding Posts, Cigarette Lighter Jack & spring clips for output. W: 7" H: 6-1/2" D: 9-3/4" WT: 18.5

Not to make a big deal, but who you appreciate an answer like that?

I'm interested in the Schulz (& upgrading my Eolo to 8Ah Lipos) but I use a PSU out of an old desktop computer for driving my existing chargers. The actual voltage on the "12v" supply is really 11.7v.

Does anyone on this forum have direct experience of running the Schulz at this voltage successfully?

Thanks, Kevin

Kevin, the voltage generally isn't the problem, it's the current. You a power supply capable of giving the charger all the current it needs and then some. The actual current needed is determined by the number of cells and current you're charging at. Schulze have several power supplies list on their web site. Find one with similar or better specifications and you'll be fine. Unfortunately good power supplies are not cheap.

you need a good power supply of enough volts and amps
(ie. wattage). If you wanna play w/ the big batteries, there
is no way around it.

you can find many previous posts pointing to places on the
net selling good power supplies (usually for ham radio
gear 13.8v). Expect to pay around $75-125 USD for
a 25A unit
