| I had a Kalt Cyclone when I was in high school. Carried that pile of crap around in my car, but I was always afraid someone would smash out the window and put 2 more Cyclones in! I have no fond memories of this pig. Unfortunately I pitched it out when I was cleaning up my parent's basement 2 months before I learned about eBay and that there were sentimental jerks like me who still liked to mess around with these old machines and could have gotten some use out of it.
That boom was a unique piece of fiberglass art and I've never come across a piece of material like it, even though I build my own booms now. It might be possible to expand a piece of aluminum tube on a lathe, or use a tube that fits the smaller end and machine a sleeve to undersize the larger end.
If you keep the Cyclones 'cause they are neat old birds that remind us all of how good we have it today, more power to you. On the other hand, if your "generous" uncle gave it to you or your wife found it a yard sale and you want to learn how to fly on it, I'd recommend putting it aside and learning on a modern machine. The slipping tail belt alone will challenge even the best pilot!
Have fun!
