Is it just me, or are SOME guys on here kidding us with the ridiculously high asking price on some of their heli's?? They have used stuff and think they are doing a favor by taking a few dollars off the Heliproz prices. Well Heliproz or Rick's are selling NEW and UNUSED items and if something goes wrong they stand behind the equipment. Private sellers stand behind nothing, you take a chance of never getting the stuff, or its not as advertised, in other words, you take a risk!! So therefore, the items being sold should be at least 40% off the price of new store bought heli's to make it all worth it. Granted not all of the people on here charge high prices, or send less then advertised quality, but like it says on the disclaimer, BUYER BEWARE!! How do you all feel about this??? Beats any questions about "should my Raptor linkage be 1.4 inches off center??"..........

in my opinion, a used heli is worth whatever someone is willing to pay for and can "sometimes" be better than a new unused heli.

The key word there is "sometimes". You really have no recourse to the seller or the manufacturer when its a private sale. That said, my point is its OK to buy used, just not at 90% of the new price.

I knew this would be controversial, but its just a topic for discussion, not an indictment of anyone.

pricing

I've bought and sold several helis via the internet and have always been pleased with the results. That being said, I agree that 90% is high, even with all the purple whizbangs and gizmos. BUT if you know the person, or know his/her references, or even better, know the heli, then you can pay what it's worth to you without harm. My rule of thumb is to add up what I have in it, deduct about 30% and go for it. Guarantees are difficult because once it's in the hands of the buyer, you have no control over what he/she does with it before starting to bitch.

Yes, it's risky, but references have always helped me through the sales and purchases.

I suggest that you offer personal heli-related references when you post something for sale.

I've even taken stuff back when it's hardware or parts because the buyer was not satisfied with the deal.

to each his own.

Good luck and make it fun.

I agree...but...

another thing that bugs me is when sellers don't post a price....

For Example this post:

I believe it's RR policy to list the price.

if it's more than what you want to pay then offer something reasonable, if they won't take it go somewhere else. It really isn't a big deal, people can and should be able to sell for whatever they think is right, if a person as a buyer is too lazy to check out how good the deal it is or too foolish not to ask if they don't know, then tough for them, hopefully they learn from it. (I am perfecly happy answering questions about what something is worth, as long as that person is not hijacking the forsale thread itself)

xbios is right! The value of an item is determined by what the seller is willing to sell for and the buyer is willing to pay.

Should the seller be asking a ridiculously high price for an item it won't sell. Who's business is it to tell someone else what they should be selling their property for?

Nobody is holding a gun to someone's head to buy something either. If I think somebody paid too much for something that's my opinion. They can choose to spend or keep their own money.

We are in the FREE MARKET system. Caveat Emptor!

Just my $.02

That why I dont upgrade as much anymore. I spend $1000 on the heli with upgrades then when I want to sell it I can only about 500 for it.

supply and demand!!

i just sold a heli that i had flown a lot. it was in perfect condition and when i listed it in RR i had a lot of guys tell me it wasn't worth the asking price. then i sold it to a guy in my club that could sit down and look at it and see it fly. supply and demand. i know the heli was perfect and i respect the guys that don't know me doubting the fact. sometimes you're the dog and sometimes you're the hydrant. c-ya
Ron,

Wow.

It's going to take you weeks to get that egg off your face, HeliNY.

However, your credibility notwithstanding , I do agree with you.

To those who said words to the effect "post whatever price" and "nobody forcing you to buy" . . . those points are all valid too but the problem is this: When asking prices are SO high, an offer for a fair price, or a price a little below that (to open up negotiations) often makes the BUYER look bad!

I buy and sell a lot of cars. Houses too. It's like a disease. Anyway, I've noticed, especially here in CO, that if you set an asking price too high, people will just bypass you. Nobody seems to enjoy haggling or making a lowball offer.

Good work on the "search, quote and destroy" mission, you guys!! I'm ROTFLMAO !

DavidH, don't let the facts get in your way, Heliproz has the Evo50 and OS 50 combo for $619.99 mine has the KSJ muffler and Hirobo glass blades which are more expensive they the Heliproz combo, at least compare apples to apples!!. You are skewing the facts to win an argument, but that's cool. I don't mind being critized, but your prices are off on the EVO 50 which was bought at my LHS.The heli was $450, blades $100, gyro and digital servo $200, radio and servo's $300, engine $175, muffler $120, gem 200 and 1700mah battery $50. Total is $1395 plus tax = $1513.57 minus 40% off is $908.00. If I was being totally unreasonable I'd ask $1200.00 since it was flown only once, not a whole season or more. And I don't get angry if someone asks to buy it for less, or not at all. And you can tell me to stick it for that too, I don't care. Just kicking the can with the topic, although it did seems touch a few nerves.......

This is just supposed to be a discussion, relax, enjoy it, its all just opinion, nothing more........

I totally agree DavidH, I never said any different. Of course its all supply and demand, people can pay whatever they want, or not. I am not off quite a bit in my posting, I knew just what I wrote, you are spinning this to win an arguement, thats all, spin on............
If it makes you feel better, You win

A seller does not care what you think of his prices. His goal is to sell it to someone who needs it. Believe it or not, some one will eventually buy it - more likely someone who does not know how to window shop or just plain beginner.
You are a smart buyer waiting too long for a good deal to come your way.

Actually, I was thinking more along the lines that maybe its just better to buy new in a lot of cases...........

I don't agree.
#1 Like the other guy said, everything is worth, what somebody is willing to pay.
#2 I've been in this hobby only about 6 months ,but with the exception of electric Corona,I've bought all my helis used of internet. It was always worth it.
#3 If you think it's not worth it ,than simply don't buy.Of course you can tell the guy he's asking too much, but that's about it.Rest his up to him.
#4 Not all the sellers don't stand behind their stuff.I've sold the Sceado to one guy and after he got it,he was unhappy with some thinks. As far as I was concern he got good deal(650$ rtf+bunch of parts),but I didn't exactly check everything under the microscope before shipping,so I took his word and Refund ed $100.(I thought that was right think to do)

Bottom line is you get what you pay for and you try to sell for as much as you can.

At least 35% off all used goods w/out receipt

preying on the ignorance of others is just plain wrong.

Yes, there is always someone who will buy it for any price.
does that make it right? - NO -
You can post an item for more than the retail price, and
someone will still buy it.

HeliNY, you are right.

there are people out there without a conscience.

Hi Krommmy,

Funny how the two New York guys are able to see the point, but we'll be ridiculed for that too I guess. We can make up numbers to prove our point and look smart!! Oh wait, thats already been done here. nevermind....
