i just finished these last week. take a look in my gallery. this is a three tank set up for the Hughes 500 consisting of 2 main tanks of about 32 oz and a hopper tank of about 16 oz. just under half a pound heavier than 3 dubro 32 oz tanks. and looks a whole lot better.

let me know what u think.

What did you use for the mouth of the tanks Rob? Are they alumunum? Later, Terry

nice tanks, what pipe are you using on the h500 ? out the back ? or the split one going out the sides ?

the only thing that bothers me about those tanks is that you can't see inside ... I though of laying up some kevlar tanks for my 230, but got too lazy and used 4 32oz dubro tanks instead with a UAT at the end .....

keep us posted on your progress .... that 500 is an impresive big bird ..

speaking of big, .. hows this for a 500 ??

the mouths of the tanks where the rubber stopper goes is aluminum as well. i just machined it to the size they needed to be for the correct amount of compression. as for fuel level. i would never put a flight on my jet copter unless i knew the fuel tanks where full. figure with this much fuel you should easy have about 12 to 15 min run time so i just sent my radio timer to 10 min. thats more than enough for me. i used aeropoxy to glue in all the formers. best stuff i have ever seen or used and it leaves a great clean finish. real strong too.

Great welding on that aluminum. wish I could weld like that. Why 3 tanks instead of one large one with maybe a baffle installed to slow sloshing. Was installation the reason? Great idea !

the idea behind three tanks is that you can place the hopper tank right on the cg since that tank is always full and the two main tanks drain equally. this way the weight is distributed evenly as the fuel is consumed.
