Had a break in the weather, took off my other tail boom support (see 'It Figures' post) and hovered nose-in without training gear! WOW! what a rush! My knees are still shaking, but that is what it was like trying to hover in the very beginning! I did just one nose-in to tail-in turn on purpose, just to see what it was like w/o the crutches on! Now I have to get the nerve to go from tail-in to nose-in...

Just had to tell everyone.

Congrats!!

Awesome!! I have just taken my training gear off once but I can't wait till I get to the point of hovering nose-in.

A stranger came up to me the last time I was flying and asked me why don't I turn it around and fly the nose towards me (he also asked why don't I fly it around more and why I don't "punch the throttle," I think he had been watching too much Nascar) But he didn't understand exactly how hard it is and how it is such a big deal once you get to that point.

Congratulations,

Brooks

Thanks

Brooks,

Yeah, it is a great feeling. My wife didn't understand what all the fuss is about until I had Rappie about 7 feet in front of her (engine off) and had her hold the Tx, and told her that everything is reverse from tail-in. She finally understood.

I guess I am having too much fun w/ this

Nose in seems like it would be easy but i know its not. I take my raptor while hovering tail in and rotate 90 degrees so it is "side in". Took a couple of tries to hold a steady hover like this but it was easy after a while. Hopefully I will go ahead and rotate it 180 and hold that in a steady hover. One day.....

Happy hovering (nose in of course )

Great job guys! Wait until you do your first nose-in landing....This will scare the cr@p out of you. Also the heli may have the tendency to want to chase you..

Then you get to start almost all over when you do inverted. Makes you appreciate those good pilots huh?

Nose In With FMA Autopilot

I tried some nose in flying using the FMA autopilot. Ive done this a couple times before without the autopilot installed. Only difference was without the autopilot I was flying about two feet off the deck...........with the autopilot on I tried it comfortably at around ten feet. I know its a heck of alot harder without this autopilot, but nose in flying still feels like an accomplishment even when using the autopilot.............I think its great at least for initial learning.

Congrads on your nose in flying!

Nose In

I did my first nose in hover coming out of a figure 8. It was pretty cool. I also brought it in for a landing nose in. The 3rd time I did it I almost crashed. Of course I crashed the Sceadu the next day anyway
