| First let me say that I am a "flyer" not a builder. As far as helicopters go, I am trying to fly. I bought an R60 pre-built and was content with it, but then then the liner died on me, atleast that is the prognosis now.
The 60 is different than a 30 as far as the starter shaft, clutch bell etc is concerned. You can't just loosen a few things up after dropping the engine and it falls into your hands.
I want to be able to get the clutch bell out for closer inspection and NOT remove the side frames. As of right now, I have taken the servo tray off, dropped the engine, and removed the E-clip from the starter shaft.
What I am attempting to do is place a cloth over the pinion gear and hold it with pliers and unscrew the clutch bell. My problem so far is how best to grab the clutch bell without inflecting damage. If my thinking is correct the clutch bell should have reverse threads so that when the clutch engages its trying to tighten the bell on the shaft not loosening it. At this point I feel like I am going to bend the start shaft or break the clutch bell when I try to rotate it. Incase I am wrong I did try to turn both directions rightie tightie and lefty loosy
Now the next thing is to simply leave it all in there and try removing the clutch liner and JBwelding a new one in, but its still not easy to reach and I want to see the liner as it is now for closer inspection.
Any thoughts/suggestions? I am dying to burn some more fuel with this nice weather and having EVERY day off ( I work nights)
