BTW, I was just now trying to explain to my wife how the contest worked, and she didn't even flinch when I said I won a new set of blades for my new heli

Bladerunner,

Be careful pulling out of tailslides inverted... I've seen two ships with MS blades go POOF in mid-air doing this trick. I think their new Pro series is a lot stiffer.

I heard RCOnline is raffling off a crashed nexus...

Well I have herd this before but as barry(bladerunner) knows I have did TV tailslides and pulled out inverted and right side up and guess what I have never crashed due to a failed blade. I think this blade failure thing is more a heli thing then it is a blade thing,Like a broken ball link or something else. I have tried almost all the ms line of blades and all where great blades.

The only MS blades that I've seen fold are the 710s. It was theblades. Mark Kiner discovered this problem while flying Ron Lund's brand new Nova. I have personally seen the video, and the stills, taken at the point of failure, from the video. From the stills it is clear that one of the blades folded right at its CG. Mark said that he has tried to make some of the shorter blades fail, but hasn't been able to.

This could have been an isolated incident, but I'm not going to trust their 710s.

I've been at the field when it happened twice, both times the dampeners were questioned and they were either the firmer kind or fairly new. Why would they redesign them and make them stiffer if there wasn't a problem?? The blades are finished very well, and they fly well, I'm just afraid of them blowing up on me. V-Blades on the other hand can take a beating and actually have a chance of surviving a crash. Is it just the wood core? Or is the carbon/resin content more dense/different on vic's blades???

Ok first off 710mm ms blades is the ones I used on my vigor. The pros and the standards with no probs, I am not saying you are wrong about what happened but I have seen a few heli's blow up in the air and no matter how hard you look it is hard to know what really happened. A broken ball link on a blade grip can cause a boom strike right?

I really dont find V-blades any stronger in a crash. In almost all crashes I have seen with v-blades the blades where toast even in a mild boom strike. Maybe it was the blades and maybe it wasn't but only two people have had this problem so it makes me think it was not the blades.

Chris, Eric is right. There is absolutely no doubt that the blade folded; the video is irrefutable.

But that was quite a while back, and the word is that improvements have been made. And besides, there aren't that many folks who stress a ship like Mark can...
