Yep

And it is a big improvment over the fix pitch. I've also put a JR410 on it so I have HH. I have not been able to take it outside to see how quick it is (flip it over) The fist nice day I'll be out there to give it a try

Yeah I'm using the stock motor on the 7 cell battery. If you hit the collective to quick it will bog. But the other side to that is it doesn't need much to climb out quickly. We are running between 1750 and an 1800 head speed. I have flown it in v-curve and had a very trusting buddy hold the skids while inverted. He held it so the heli was actually flying but could not get away. Needless to say it will fly inverted and climb out. But the cyclic seems slow and I'm not sure if it will do flips yet. I will soon find out.

I really don't recommend doing what we did, and no we will not do it again! No one was hurt, and nothing exciting happened but it was diffently an uneasy feeling.

Deckerv hello. I to have been considering one since the first of the year. Once I heard the CP version was coming out I decided to wait. I went to the Heliproz website and see that they are not flybarless like Walt F's mod but maybe they might fly better yet. That was an opinionated question. My real question is did you get the basic Hornet kit and the CP kit seperately? What did you get for a 5 channel reciever? Are you going to use the stock motor or the Hacker? It would be interesing to hear more about this. I also would use Futaba gear for this bird.

Yup.. I bought the complete futaba kit from Heliproz and the CP kit. The Futaba kit now comes with a 5ch rx!!!! All you need is another servo

Maybe it's me, but PHEW these directions look like poo poo. I kinda think it makes the Raptor directions look VERY nice, or at least easier to follow.

I'm going to stick with the stock motor for the time being.. this busted my bank as it is . I want to do the hacker motor later on.

When my rappy first came in, I just started building that puppy immediately.. This thing I'm finding myself looking at and looking.. and just hesitating in general. There is just something I don't like about gluing a heli together.. it seems so final or hard to fix a mistake.. even with debonder.

deckerv!

BE SURE TO USE SLOW CA!!! Especially when putting in the tail boom. If you don't do this and some how break the boom, well lets just say you would almost be better starting over!

Hey Vo, Do you know about http://www.hornet-heli.com/cgi-bin/bbs/ultimate.cgi which is a Hornet only forum with really great and helpful people. When my intrest grew to wanting one back in Dec. I joined and posted to get more info so I wouldn't make unneccessary purchases and end up with stock stuff I wouldn't use. Cyberheli offers a kit that includes the Hacker and speed controller.

Also check out http://www.madmanrc.com./ Lots of hornet advice hear. I also have some sites that offer the Hacker.

But definately check out the first site.

I just found what I was looking for,
Hacker Motor B 20-22s
Schulze 18b or 20he ESC

Also check out Dream hobbies at http://www.dreamhobbies.com/
They have probably all lot of the Hornet upgrades and parts.

When you go to the Hornet BBS perhaps direct your questions to John K. He was extremely helpful in giving me this info. Please post what you learn. Good luck!

Another question

Ok.. it's all together now, and I'm having a #$#$@ of a time getting the radio programmed correctly for.. Could use some help in that area too if anyone is familiar with the CP and the Futaba 9CHF (P) radio line.

I push the throttle up, and the swash tilts forward, like the elevator and the pitch are plugged into the rx wrong.. I pull the elevator stick back, and the pitch goes negative.. Push it forward, the pitch goes positive. Would that mean I have the 2 servos in the wrong channel on the RX?? Geeze I feel dumb

HELP PLEASE!!! I'm dieing to chase my cats around the house with it!!!!

I am building a Hornet with collective pitch option and the parts fit perfectly. No trimming, sanding, or anything.

It has taken me 6 hours to get to the point of the servos and receiver going in. It took me 9 hours to build a Sceadu to this point. So, this is not as hard as some have said. Not that it is flying yet or anything!

Oh -- I am using a Nikon stereo microscope to build it under. So I am able to apply the glue perfectly. Also using dental pics and tweezers.

Mine went together very well too.. Just made a few holes a little bigger in the tail parts so the pitch slider worked easier......

Well.. 5 flights with mine, 5 crashes so far... grrrrrr... Anyone out there have good pitch and throttle curves for this little beast?? I'm not going to repair it again if it costs $$.... This little thing cost as much as my Nexus does when I have to fix it!!!!!!!!.. Heck..even the rotor blades when available will be almost as much as a set of carbons for the 30 sized birds!

We'll see.. I lost some of the landing gear parts when it crashed last, and I'm going to need a new set of blades but not giving up quite yet..

Anyone help please???

Hi guys,
the first thing NOT to do is glue the boom in. if you glue it in, you'll soon regret it when/ if you strip the tail drive pinion. use some 2mm set screws instead. one for the main body and the other for the tail gearbox.

for those who didn't know, i have a website with some info on the Hornet if you'd like to take a look, go here:
http://microhelis.homestead.com/

i also make and sell upgrade parts such as pitch sliders, aluminum swashplates, oneways, aluminum hubs etc.

here's a picture of my latest:

thanks!

Thanks JohnK... When I built mine, I put 4-40 setscrews in to hold the boom/tail gear box.. I just didn't like the idea of using CA glue.. it just seems to hold when you don't want it to, and loosen when you don't want it to..

I'll be putting an order in for a swash sometime soon.. They look great!!

Do they make a big difference in flight characteristics??
Thanks!!

due to the SP's being stiffer, using a bearing with tighter tolerances and placing the upper balls wider apart, they offer more cyclic power than the stock one, which will give more control.

John I put mine together last night and flew it today, The swash plate really is nice and smooth. It really make flying the hornet alot easyer.
Thanks for all your help.

We are not running any mixing because we have been running the gy-240 gyro. Go to http://www.hornet-heli.com/cgi-bin/...gi?action=intro and do a search on gyros.
