Hey,

You know the saying, $hit happens. When building mine I put the washout assembly on upside down on the main mast causing the links to all bind on the swashplate. I caught that one when I was setting my pitch.

I now have 4 tanks through my raptor and everything is running smoothly. Everything on the heli is working perfectly. Either I am an awsome builder, or Tunder Tiger did an awsome job on manufacturing the kit because on the first flight, the only trimming needed was 2 clicks (digital clicks) of aft cyclic. Maybe it was a little bit of both .

Hope everything goes as smoothly for you as it has for me. Happy Flying!

Another eye opener..

Awhile ago I installed a servo mount on the boom and forgot to switch the direction on the gyro...
that will get your attention on spool up ;-)

Cheers...Jeff

"hmmm...that's weird....it doesn't do that on the sim???"

Dimwit???

No, everyone messes up now and then. When I was about 16 my friends and I had "motorcycles" if you can call a Honda 50 stepthrough and a Yamaha 60 motorcycles.
Actually the Yamaha did look like a motorcycle.

My buddies "motorcycle" wouldn't start one day when we wanted to ride, so we started checking everything under the sun, battery, spark plug etc.....no joy.
So one of us------I'm not admitting to anything, decided we had to pull the head off "to see if the piston had a hole".
Hehehe......the piston was fine, the problem you ask???
He was out of GAS!!!! ROTFLMAO.

Sometimes it's hard to see the forest for the trees!!

BTW, this is a true story........ his dad was very pissed.

answer is no - i assembled the tail rotor guide backward and wondered where all the slop came from. I was definitely the dimwit, (actually the wimpy instructions from TT were). Hang in there - it's always good to know that your fellow pilots make similiar mistakes!

BladeRunner,

Mine was not quite that bad but bad enough, a friend and I went X-mas shopping one night we took his pickup, anyway we do all our shopping and go to leave my friend goes to turn on the head lights and they don't come on. Well to make a long story short we got the pickup home the next day, I just new that the switch had to be bad, so we got a new one and put it in, still no lights so now it must be the dimmer we replace that still no lights, it was at this time that I decided to check the thing I should have checked first, sure enough there was fire to the lights it just so happend that both headlights burned out at the same time high beam and low beam, that was the first and last time I have ever seen that happen.

Wanna hear a good one.

We all looked at this fellows heli. It was really pitchy in forward flight. At least 10 of us looked at the thing. We could see nothing wrong. Poor Brian was really frustrated with it. He took it to the LHS and the fellow spotted the problem right away. We all missed it at the club.
The paddles were on backwards.

Ohh bugger !

well I have done my share of stupid things as well
but the biggest one must be when i started to learn inverted hover
I had been inverted for a couple of minutes and had just flipped it the right side up, came down to a normal hover, and wanted to do a full pitch spiral departure, guess what the dimwit did yea right i pulled the stick all the way DOWN and my Rappy went from being a heli into beleiving it was a crude oil drill ! That was my worst day, and as someone so explisitly said :
"slapping my forehead, while chanting : STUPID STUPID STUPID"

Ok I will .. I rubber banded my gyro on when it came loose with an old rubber band I found at the field .. I had to land with the gyro hanging off the side .What a trip that one was ..

Good stuff guys,
I'm laughing now, remembering all my past mechanical goof-ups (a day wasted stripping a mx engine twice because i forgot to put the washer in that i forgot on the first teardown, etc, etc)
What do we gain from such experiences ? - not much if you're anything like me /8-)
