Sadly, its a reminder that we are not invinciable. Are most exciting hobby can hurt us very badly. Im so sorry about Ron's family. I salute everyone who helped Ron in his last moments. You guys and gals are true heros.

i would really give the hospital, or who ever you were trying to get out there a ear ache. I think its total bull **** they werent there faster. It took them 45 minutes? and during the time you were doing your best to save Ron, the time flies...so who know how long it really was. It is still BS about how long it took.

I posted this another section but I felt it would be appropriate to post it here as well..........

Just recently my friend was hit by a raptor 30 with 10 minute old carbon fiber blades. He was flying an airplane and our friend was flying the raptor. They were the only 2 people at the field other than my friends wife. (if she wouldn't have been their he probably wouldn't have made it.) From what I gather something happened to the tail rotor on the rappy, the pilot yelled but are friend looked up just in time for the first blade to hit him in the chin, in which it virtually cut his jaw off. The blades also hit the top of his head, his back, the juglar vein, his thyroid, and im not sure what all else. His wife was a jewel, while the guy that hit him was in shock and couldn't do much of anything she got her husband, (who looked like Jason on the halloween movies just got done with him, not hardly a spot on his body wasn't covered with blood), to the local fire dept and got him professional help with in 10 minutes, probably saving his life. Unbelievably my friend is doing very well with only a small spot in his lip that has no feeling. Thank God!

Im not sure how my friend would take me telling you all this story but I feel its imperative after seeing with my own crying eyes what these machines will do to you if it hits you or anyone else.

PLEASE, PLEASE, BE CAREFUL FOLKS!!

My heart goes out to Rons family and friends.

First of all, and on behalf of the heli flyers way our here on Guam, our sincere condolences to Ron's family. Our prayers go out to his family and to the family of the student flyer. We know very well about tragedies like this.

Secondly, on the comments being made that are less than sensitive, please remember that we are a family that love this sport and want nothing to bring disrepute to it.

Ron Kyle

In every sence of the word, "GoodFella Ron was indeed that type of person.

He would do what he could to help the less expierenced pilots and always giving a kind word about ones progress in starting out in this great hobby. Always had a positive personality and just an over all good guy! No question about it.

Ron was planning on going to the Sulphur Fun Fly next weekend with a few of us core flyers at Tom Bass Park.

In memory of Ron, what might be a good idea at the next fun fly that comes up in your area, is for the more well known, expierenced pilot(s) to give a "clinic" on helicopter safety from the aspect of flying and setup. I think this would benefit everyone, even the seasoned pro.

We do take for granted the power of these machines and we should never over look this.

Here is a picture of the group from Tom Bass at the MayDay heli fun fly this past may with Ron.

From Lft to Rt: Pete Z, Simon V. Sitting is Max H, Karl M, Chris R, and Ron K.

So Sorry for Ron and his family!

I am so sorry for Ron and his family.
The folks from the Northwest all send their condolances.
We should all say a prayer for him and his family.
It's too bad something like this had to happen and hopefully we can all learn from this and have more of a consience effort to be safe with our hobby!
If when you go to fly maybe you can think of Ron and not let his death go in vain by thinking of safety first!!!

Sincerely,

Well it certainly is an eye opener, people tend to forget just how dangerous these helicopters can be.

All my sympathies go out to the family. It certainly is a sad day for the heli community.

Extremely saddened by the news. Condolences to the families. As this filters through the heli community, hopefully this will establish a better safety guideline for general field operations.

This incident reminded me of another incident a few years back locally...extreme 3D was just becoming mainstream, and at one of the local airshows at an airport, a couple rc heli pilots were invited to do a demo for the airshow. One of the pilots were eager to please the crowd on hand and performed maneuvers that were beyond his abilities. To make a long story short, the pilot was hacked by his own rc helicopter and suffered considerable blunt trauma to his torso region and was hospitalized.

There are many of us that have taken this sport of ours too seriously. In our eagerness to either improve or impress, safety often suffers, and it is unfortunate that it usually takes a tragedy to make aware of the dangers we face. Similar to traffic laws and regulations, if it were not for prior accidents, we would not have the necessary safety precautions and laws. After seeing several pilot's maneuvers that not only endanger themselves but spectators, it is only inevitable that accidents will occur. At Phoenix FF a couple years back, I even saw one of the top US demo pilots landed his helicopter to tune the engine and reached in with his arm as he lied on the ground with the rotor blades still spinning at full song.

As Stet had pointed out, it is unclear whether this incident occured with or without safety precausions, accidents can occur as per Murphy's Law. It is only up to us to minimize that possibility.

Again, extremely saddened, and condolences to the families.
