Miniature Aircraft Nitro/Gas Helicopters > How does a Fury Expert with YS-80 compare to Exreme?

Is there any reason to get a Fury Extreme over an Expert with a YS-80?

How would the YS-80 compare to the OS-91 in terms of power, starting, and reliability? I have no experience with them.

YS80

I don't have the answers to all your questions, and have no experience with the OS91, but I do have a YS80 and can say it's the best motor I've ever used. I've not had a smooth running OS motor since they DC'd the SFN. The SX's and LX"s that I've tried just don't match YS for smoothness. The 80 is just as smooth running as the 61 with maybe a bit more vibration. I just bolted mine in my X-cell with the same muffler and 9:1 gear ratio as the 61 used and it worked great from the first tank. You can surely get more power with a different muffler, but mine will do continuous flips from now to eternity w/o bogging running 710mm blades, so why bother? I was so pleased that I ordered another one for my Vigor. Hope this helps. Steve.

So the YS 80 will bolt right up to a stock Fury but the gear ratio is not quite optimal? Is this the same for the OS 91? Lastly, does any one have the Furys in stock? Thanks,

Nick

Nick, I believe the answer to the first two questions is yes. Whether the 91 will work as well using the stock ratio, is a ? I'm using 9:1 with the YS w/o problem. As far as the Fury is concerned, I don't know where to find one. Are you going flying Sunday? If so, where? The last two trips I made to Oroville I didn't find anyone, and the time before that there were only a couple of plank fliers. Let me know when and where, and I'd love to see some other heli fliers. Steve.

As long as the 91 or 80 will work until I would get the corect ratio is what I was concerned about. As long as it is not too cold and wind isn't blowing too hard there sholud be a good amount of people flying there on the weekends until noon or so. You did go to Kazanga, the flying site that is off highway 149 correct? There arn't that many heli flyers but usualy there is at least one guy flying helis. I won't be out there this weekend (I just had ACL replacement surgery monday, damn ski jumps) but maby next weekend. I don't have any helis flying now but have found a place with a Fury an hope to have it flying soon. I need something to do whail I'm an invilid (?). If you want to come up some weekend and fly give me a call at 519-7132 or e mail me nks_97@yahoo.com. I also work at Hobbytown USA in Chico so you can contact me there.
