Does anyone know where to get a heat sink that could be made to fit a motor in an ECO 8 ? I saw some mention of heat sinks from cars but haven't been able to locate. Any source?? Thanks,

I don't know which motor you have but try for example this page maybe it woudl fit. By and large just try web pages of motor manufacturers while they usually have coolers for their own motors.

ECO8 should not need a heatsink, excluding the "fan" for a DC engines such as GM 23x1 @10 cells or so. I suppose you are speaking about the AC engines. Any AC engine in ECO8 should not pass over 80 C even during aerobatics, otherwise there is a wrong set-up (wrong pinion or not suitable engine or timing). Even "rocket" such as B50-11L is not getting so hot after an aerobatics flight.

Please, check if there is enough airflow in the canopy and if the engine has proper Kv and suitable pininon, maybe you will reallise an another solution than an external heat sink.

Anyway if you will persist to have AC heat sink, you should contact an engine manufacturer. They usually provided an additional ribs (Hacker) that could be attached to the engine body.

But if you mean DC engine, tham there is a complete different situation. 23x1 needs to be cooled down. Dc engines are usually colloed by an active fan. The best available fans comes from "car air refresher", that are available at gas stations and have a small propeller inside - it is possible to directly attach it on the engine shaft and thats it. Another alternative is to use normal computer heat sink.

Best Regards
