| People are always talking about how great SAB 550's are. There are two models of them and they are distinctly different. I have flown both the carbon re-enforced/FRP (#300) and the carbons (#320). The re-enforced have the letters "S4" molded into the root on one side (root size ?) and "SAB" on the other and are all white. They are a little heavier (110) and auto good. Pretty tough too (at least the ding in the tailboom thinks they are tough!) I think they fly wierd (fore/aft cyclic response) in FFF with KSJ paddles though, at least when compared to the 320's. The carbon 320's have a reflexed airfoil that doesn't load the engine as much at high pitch angles. They seem to be more FFF stable, require use of grip washer for 4mm grips, have a clear strip in the gelcoat near the root to show the carbon, and weigh about 100g. IMO, the 320's are worth extra cost once you you fly good enough to tell the difference. |
