Henseleit 3DNT - Rocket - 3DMP > Throttle Push Rod

I am in the process of building my 3DNT. OSFX - Lotterle carb.

I am currently doing the throttle/push rod.

With the throttle closed and the servo arm pointing directly at the carb the first few degrees of servo movement produces next to no movement of the carb. This is because the servo arm is moving sideways relative to the push rod.

I takes about 65% of servo movement to open the carb 50%. The remaining 45% of servo movement opens the carb very quickly.

Is this normal?

Hi,

First, this makes a total of 110%...
Let's be more serious, I slightly increased the lenght of that rod so that I could balance the travel of the servo arm a bit better.
This way you can achieve a mid point position of the arm at about 45° from the vertical, and not at 60° as it might be setted for you at present.
It makes it easier for triming the idle speed and for stopping the engine.

Yes your right, 110%

When your servo has moved from 0% to 50% of its travel does
it open the carb 50%?

Hi,

Once setted to that mid-travel correspond to 45°, yes, 45° should correspond to 50% of opening for the carburator.

When your carb is closed is the servo arm pointing straight down the
push rod?

No.

If you set it properly : looking at the input from th stick, with a trim at 0. (full down trim)

0% : Servo arm is horizontal, carburator closed.
50% : Servo arm is pointing at 45° from vertical, carburator at 50%
100%: servo arm is vertical, carburator fully opened.

You might have to change the hole on the servo arm...

I am a little confused

If your servo arm is horizontal when the carb is closed, then due to the angle of the push rod the first few degree of servo movement will try and close the carb more.

Do you have any pics you can send me of these various positions?

Thanks

Hi,

Likely you should reverse the arm, it should point forward as in the picture below.
In this position it is just slightly opened for the idle speed, and will move upward to open the carburator or downward and close the carburator to stop the engine when horizontal

Thanks for the reply Pascal, however I can't open the picture you have posted.
