I was reading through an old post regarding saftey and how fast things coming from the rotor head are moving. They guy mentioned 300+ mph. On a 49 in rotor diameter at 1500 rpm the tip speed is 218mph. So just remember the bigger the rotor dia. and the faster the rpm the faster the tip speed. If you don't know how to figure tips speeds email me with the stats and I will email you back the answer and how to do it.

Example:

Rotor diameter 150cm - 1,5 meters
circumference - 1,5 times 3,14 = 4,71 meters
Rpm 1600 thats about 27,7 rotations in one second.
So in one second one blade tips travels the amount of 27,7 times 4,71 equals 130,467 meters.
So in one hour a blade tip that has a rpm rate of 1600 and a radius from rotorhead center to tip 75 centimeters travels 469,6812 kilometers.

470 kph is about 293 mph

sounds right. I don't figure things in meters but whatever works. At any rate its fast enough tok hurt you as people already know.

Well, not excactly.....if you move around the helicopter counterclockwise, the tip of the blades will be less your speed, but if you move around the Heli clockwise your speed will be added to the speed of the blade speed.

Now, if you and the heli are moving around the field clockwise, that will make it even worse.

So don't move when you fly your heli (or move only verticaly)
