I have a benzin with the 230 engine I ran 1 gallon of gas than went to coleman fuel.I've put 3 gallons thur it so far and she ran great. Now it will not start I pulled the plug grounded it to the frame and I can see spark I know it's getting fuel but it will not start.I also have the auto start installed what can I do next and where should I look

If you are using suppressor on your plug, make sure it screws in nice and tight to get good sparks.

No I'm not using a suppressor,If I can see the spark would that indicate that the electrical components are ok??

Yes, if you get spark and fuel , unless you over choke it, then blow the excess fuel out of the cylinder then try again..

I've over choked in the past so I know those symptoms I did blow out the chamber a few times cleared it out and still will not start this is so frustrating

What I can suggest is , unhook your fuel line feed to carb and use the electric starts , give it a few quick spins just to absolutely sure there is no excess fuel in the chamber, reconnect fuel line and plug. go at it again.

Sounds weird, if you have fuel and sparks technically it should be able to give you a few kicks as you try to start the engine. Do you use Filter on your carb or Velocity Stack? Reason why I ask , It could be a chance of a dirty carb. beyond that, I am stump.

Try this, take your spark plug wire off of the plug and secure it away from the plug, now turn on your receiver and radio and raise your throttle to full open, pull the try to start it about five times just like you normaly would, then lower your trottle put the plug wire back on and it shouls start. This always works for me . Let me know how you make out.

The only thing wich could be the problem if you have spark an fuel is either wrong carb settings or the fuel itself if you E-mail me a phone number I will caal and try to walk you through this

This happened to me on an Xcell gasser...

Turned out to be a faulty magneto coil. I sent the engine back to Horizon, and that's what they replaced.

makiedog I'm thinking the same thing I am getting spark but it may not be enough. It had been flying fantastic with the same tank of fuel and would start within 3-5 seconds with the auto start then the very next day nothing. Is there any way to test the coil I'm ready to order a new one

I had similar problem on one of my Benzin (G230RC). It ran awful for a short time - 10 secs or so; and then wouldn't even start. I discovered eventually that I had overtightened a clamp and closed the vent pipe. I noticed when I tried to de-fuel; when I stopped pumping, the fuel climbed back into the tank. My fix was obvious.

and the culprit is???

everybody thanks for the help I ordered a new carb and plug I removed the autostart and replaced the original pull start and I'm back in business. I have the first autostart which is not a vario product. The 480 speed motor was not spinning fast enough to start although it seemed like it was.I've had other problems with this autostart that I will discuss in another thread I hope the vario autostart is better I have one on order for my other benzin

I've had over 45-50 starts. The problems I have is the way the motor is mounted. The motor housing has 2 -2.5 mil threaded mounting holes that strip the threads due to the vibration and kick back from the engine. It causes the motor to loosen and the gears start to strip if you don't catch it in time.I took the 480 apart and installed the screws from the inside of the 480.It was solid and worked great until I noticed it moving again. When I removed the entire assembly I saw that the 480 housing was cracked at the bottom. It needs 4 screws to secure it,but because part of it is slotted I quess allow air for cooling you can't put 2 additional screws in it.I'm going to make some type of mount to secure it

Vario Auto start should be a lot better. I was told Moore vario had it modified somewhat to make the autostart more durable. IMHO I think the vario design would be more reliable than what you have. Glad to know you figured out what was wrong with the engine.
