VARIO !!!!!

4 of my 6 heli's are Gas!! I love them as they are easy to start and very powerful!! The make a large group of Fuse's for the Z230 engine !!Check out www.variousa.com or call 1-805-553-9996 and ask for Roger -- (Josef is the owner but has no idea what is going on). Tell him Dr.Tim sent you !!! (He will add 10% to your bill !!! LOL)

Z230 - Functional, easy to build, inexpensive to repair, needs a few upgrades, boom holder for sure. Great cooling system. Sluggish, easy to fly

XCell - Best choice for 3D, needs a few upgrades, harder to build, I don't like the plastic head block. For 3D you'll want major upgrades.

Vario - Best system for scale or camera application. Very sluggish, but very smooth. Different gear ratios available to run low (1300) headspeeds with 800 blades. Get the one from www.variousa.net which has the CCPM frame upgrade. This upgrade has the servos mounted in the frame near the mainshaft. Very tidy and much nicer than using the front tray.

Bergen - Similar to Xcell, comes with more metal parts.

So they are all good, but what are you really after?

I recommend you shop the used market, you will save a ton of dough. Don't see a lot of used varios though. If I did it again, I'd get the vario, for scale.

I can't say for the other machines, but I have found the Intrepid Gas w/torque tube to be a fantastic helicopter. I know there is a UK distributer so parts shoud be plentiful. The machine is very well made and will do anything you ask of it including 3D. Feel free to email me with any questions you may have and I will do my best to answer them.

I talked to this guy vea. Email, he said he had owned the M.I. X-Cell Gasser, JR Z230 the Bergen gasser and the Hirobo Eagle gasser,,, he said that the Bergen is the best, best 3Der best designed and the best in quality, but he said he had or was selling them all excepted the Eagle because it was the easiest gasser to set-up... I think I would buy the Bergin !

I think he sold the Bergen

I think MitchD sold the Bergen. I had been looking at it myself. I have heard a lot of good things about him. VETRIDER speaks very highly of him.

I think he has two X-Cell gassers still for sale.

Gas Heli

I have a Eagle GS and it is a great machine. everthing on the head is alum. and the tail is slop free, also it has a tube drive and could either be setup for 680mm blades or long conv. to fit 800mm blades. The engine is very dependable and has decent power. The machine is quit heavy but scoots along pretty good. I have done loops and rolls with mine and it is the long version. the shorter one is a better acrobatic version but I am planning to use mine for a camera ship someday.

If you are looking for a Gasser I would Recommend that you go with a NEW one . There are a great deal of second hand Gassers out there but, Why would you want a used one when a new heli is only a couple dollars more!! It's worth the extra!! In most cases you will be replacing links, ball bearings, etc. Most Gassers people sell are so wore out (Because they run forever) they would rather sell then rebuild!!! Think before you jump!!
