i am sorry to have to bring this up... "in this great forum", this topic should not have to be mentioned, but i guess we have to warn the members out there of the possibilites that some of the members on this site might be either trying to scam you or just plain rip you off...case in point one member ( who shall remain nameless for now) was selling a product on this forum, a gentlemans agreement was made, and money was sent, over a month later, still no product...after exchanging email and pm, nothing yet. i still have faith in the fellow heli guy, he might get religion and return my money, but i guess ill chaulk that one up as a learning experience...cavet emptor...

anyone else have a bad experience like this and what can we do atleast in this forum to keep this site clean...

short of banning everyone from every site and not haveing the internet anymore.. there isnt much you can really do about it.. sorry for the loss but this IS the internet and i have a hard time even buying from a hobby site.. even the big ones... so i would never paypal some schmuck a fist full of money in HOPES that they send the product... but that is just me.. i hope that person grows a set and fixes the situation... of course there are two sides to every story......

i didnt place this post for sympathy , i placed it to educate some of you guys so that it wont happen to you, the fact is there is a classified section here on this site and maybe if guys get burned by some individuals ,those bad guys should be banned from this site...you know you try to help someone in need and you get burned...no good

are you guys kidding me, are you guys telling me its ok to be ripped off, if any of you guys would have been ripped off i would have been pissed , lets see what we can do about this now, not wait till 2 more guys get ripped, maybe we shouldnt have a classified section , just ebay accounts...i dont know what the answer is but, lets not sit there and take it, as long as it doesnt happen to you...

im sorry you took the posts that way.. but i dont put myself in the postition to get "ripped off" face to face transactions.. or from regulated sites.. IE. tower, ricks , cyberheli and such... is the safest bet

I'm with budc on this one, this is the internet and anyone can re-register under a different name if they get black-listed. I have bought things off people from forums who i have never met.

My rules:

Check the user's post count (a 1 post wonder trying to sell £1500 heli rings some alarm bells)

Ask other forum members who you do trust if they have dealt with the person concerned and what the results were, do this via PM and the potential seller doesn't even know you've checked up on them.

If anything seems wrong it probably is, don't do the deal
