Kyosho Caliber 30 & 60 - Concept - Nexus > Kyosho Jet Ranger Fuse

Hello to all fellow Vario and Kyosho people, masters of the universe. Does anyone have any experience with the Kyosho fuse? My main question is, if you had it all over to do again in the assy or painting what would you have done different. Example, instead of using screws to hold the two halves together, any other types of fastners? Had any difficulty getting the paint you applied to stick to the PPP type plastic? This fuse is a brand new still in the box unassembled, also 60 size. Any problems with over heating or fuse cracking due to vibration. Should a person go ahead and install small rubber grommets were the fuse mounts to the standoffs? Just thinking outloud. Any advice would be helpful.

Here is a picture of my Kyosho PLASTIC Jet Ranger Fuselage.
Kyosho has a set of optional stickers to decorate the heli.
I pay around $25.00 for the set you see in the picture.

I have the 30 Jet Ranger and have crashed it several times with no damage. The screws hold on just fine even though they are tiny. Go with the optional Super Stick decals. I tried paint twice and it flaked off both times. I got a couple of spot lights from Tower and mounted them under the front end, looks really nice. It is a pain to put together . Taking the tail off and everything but the end result is very nice.

PHI flyer. Hello and thanks. I have arrangements to have it painted but you have me concerned. The guys at the paint shop were going to treat it accordingly, PPG paints, primer and flex additive with clear coat. They seem to know what they are doing, (Chevrolet dealership) have seen the fuse and what I have gathered through people on the websites the paint process and materials seem appropriate for a durable and good looking paint job. If anyone has any advice on this subject please respond. It's going to the shop soon. PHI flyer, what paints did you use? I have the decals but would prefer to paint. The ship for me is not intended to be scale by no means but to have something with "scale" flying characteristics perhaps leading down the road to a true scaler and having something different to fly. I ideally want to have a 4,5, or 6 color fade which they said they would do but if the paint is not going to be durable "good adhesion to the plastic" then I must reconsider. Anyone have any advice? Please!

I dont remember the brand of paint I used but it wasnt anything special, just model paint from a can. If the dealership uses the same paint they use on, say a urathane bumper, and prep the surface correctly, it should stick fine. The question is how will it hold-up in the event of a crash. I have seen paint flake off of a urathane bumper after a car crash.

Yes, I would agree. But I think there is a slight difference between a 4000lb car at say 3-5 mph than the heli. If I do more than botch a landing I've got bigger problems. Perhaps a chopped off tail. Besides the paint and techniques they apply to those urethane bumpers is becoming pretty good. Believe me, Out of habit I look at the front bumper, everything for that matter, at the Mrs.' minivan everyday and believe me it holds up! LOL! My biggest problem right now is trying to find a 6mm hex start cone. Had 2 ordered from Tower. Found out there was a miscount, told they would be in Thursday 2 wks ago, called today and was told that it will be mid January. By the way nice pic. I was suprised when I got my hands on the fuse it was more than what I had expected. Will make nice everyday flier and look very nice also.

decals

PHI flyer- thanks. Are the ones you noted the ones in the photo? Do you know if these would work on a painted Funkey fiberglass fuse? Is the heli in the picture the Kyosho fuse they sell for the Concept 30? I ask that because I think the Kyosho plastic fuse is smaller than the Funkey jet ranger. Thanks again.

The one in the picture above is a Concept 30 Jet Ranger fuse from Kyosho. The part number for the decaIs is H-3223M. Here is the number for the same decals made for Concept 60. H-6226 Maybe they will fit the Funkey. I dont know what a Funkey looks like. And as long as the paint is not flaking off the fiberglass, these decals will stick. They are the extra sticky and once they go on they WONT come off. The hobby shop I go to sells Kyosho and they ordered the decals for me. I got the blue ones and they look great.

Well, my LHS says that can't get the Kyosho optional decals that Kyosho shows on their website, not available they say. Neither Tower or Heli-World has them listed either. Anyone know where I can find them? I'm looking for some Jet Ranger decals for a 30 size Funkey fuse. Thanks everyone!

tisrich, Hello. Midland helicopter has them listed on their website at
http://www.lance.co.uk/w3mh/mall/midheli/midheli.htm
I just recently recieved 2 ea 6mm hex start adapters for my helis from them.
They promptly returned my email when I inquired and they showed up as promised. They have tons of Kyosho parts and Zeal upgrades as well. The part # they have list is z-k/h3223m. They decribe them as metallic. Good luck.

Thanks Butch. I'll contact them. I noticed that no color preference was listed. Do you know if you get a choice? What kind of shipping charge do they impose to the US? Thanks again.

Tisrich, hello again. I just looked at my invoice and it lists everything in pounds. I havn't seen my billing statement so to be honest I don't know. It was sent airmail and I have a 1.50 L charge for carriage. Roughly $3.00 American. E-mail Trevor and I'm sure he can answer all your questions. With all the Kyosho parts support they have and the service I received I would not hesitate to order from them again. Naturally I will stay in the states for any other needs. But as for as Kyosho support goes they appear to have it all.

Hello Tisrich, sorry for my late reply, but I was out of the country.

The Decals you see on the pic are Kyosho optional parts for the fuse.
They come in 3 Colors:

KYOE 4177 H-3223 Decal Blue for Jet Ranger
KYOE 4178 H-3223M Decal Red for Jet Ranger
KYOE 4179 H-3223G Decal Green for Jet Ranger

They cost me $25.00 the complete set.

The Blue is Dark blue with Light Blue....... They look very nice.

I am pretty sure they can fit your Fiberglass fuselage. My fuselage is plastic made and they stick very well. In some parts I have put some drops of CA glue. And for $25.oo is a good choice.

Good luck.

Hey guys. Thanks for the replies. I have ordered a set from Midland Helis in the U.K. I did contact Trevor via email and he responded very quickly. Total cost including shipping was around 18 pounds UK so I figure my cost is between $20-25. They have a huge selection of stuff too. Thanks again
