Ok people, I want to know how many gallons it took you to do your first stunt, not including stall turns because they don't really count . Im not going to post a poll because I can't think of a few categories, so just post your reply! It took me about 5 months I think, don't know how many gallons. I was wondering if I was just a slow learner or if it was just because I didn't want to trash my nice helicopter!

Stunt?

Well, my first real stunt was spending all this money when my wife was away in Europe!! Hehehe Now all I have to do is figure out what I'm gonna' do with all this stuff.
I haven't done any stunts with my helis yet, hope to get to that this season.

loop

i did my first stunt, a loop after about a gallon of fuel. but i did have countless hours on the G-2 sim. it was a big ol loop too, no collective change just pull back on the elevator. it was scary cause i came within about 10 feet from hitting the ground. but i got though it without crashin.

i inverted on my first tank of my tenth gallon of fuel...
I wasn't ready yet i'm now on my twentieth gallon of fuel and i can't keep more than a few seconds inverted i can do loops and rolls but not perfectly i tried airobats before i was ready and they were terrible learn to fly first egt nose in down work on getting everything smooth... learn to auto well it's important then start up high with your first stunts it doesn't take long to get disoriented when you're doing new things

I learned backwards to everyone I think! I learned hovering tail in first obviously, then side in, then forward flight, then nose in but I learned aerobatics before autos. I think it was probably 7 gallons for descent Loops/Rolls/Split S's.

i wasn't comfortable with forward flight until I could do autos

Does doing the funkey chicken on the ground count when the trottle servo dies and a boom strike occurs and the engine runs so reliably it won't shut down?

I did my first loop today after about 2.5 gallons of fuel

I think my first attempt to hover was a stunt. I was in the barn and I crashed the heli (LMH 110) right into the welding tanks. oops…

The less time I have the more I get done.

I must just be a big wimp about my helicopter then! Thanks for signing my guestbook Seneca, and I saw your plane outside, it looked real nice. The reason I was at the airfield was because my parents own a helicopter flight school there, they use R-22's and I just went with them so I could fly on the grass outside.

I did my first nose-in hover at 3 tankfulls. Rolls, loops, and inverted hover came to me at the 7th or 8th tankfull.... but I do thank the sim and my plank experience to help my learning curve. To date.. the only mishap I have had was the wind catching my nexus right before touchdown, and the tail touched first. That broke several teeth off of the main gear, but that was all. I'm teaching myself since there are no other heli flyers in our club yet.

I've been at it about three years now. Don't know how many gallons, but I like to get out once a week for a few flights. At times I have missed flying several weeks in a row.

Been flying nose in for about a year. I did my first loops and flips about three months ago. I did my first nose in landing and take off two weeks ago.

Pretty pathetic huh? I've progressed slow but my goal is not so much doing 3D as it is being a super smooth pilot and having fun.

Crashes = 0

A cunning stunt

My first stunt was an absolute act of brilliance, It came after about 20 litres of fuel (about 5 gallons). I had decided that i was going to do a roll so I flipped the switch to idle up and made a few 1/4 rolls and bailing out. I then landed for some reason and took off again, the pass was high speed and level, looking good, full right cyclic, heli goes upside down, collective comes back through to negative....engine revs drops back to idle !!- NOOOOooooooo!! I managed to continue the roll with the head speed decaying and losing lots of altitude, forward speed all gone. You know that point in time when your heli is still airborne but you KNOW it is going to crash??..I was there. It hit the ground slightly nose down but fairly level, to my surprise it bounced back into the air shaking like a dog coming out of water, totally out of control and flew about 5 meters into a leafy tree, I once again pre-accepted the inevitable as the wooden blades went slapping through the branches and leaves. I tried like hell to fly it out of and away from the tree and was once again amazed to see it under control, I could tell it was in a bad way, It was making some horrendous noise and I barely had enough power to hover. On top of all that it looked kind of messed up. I set it down gently near the tree and killed the engine. Damage was a bent right skid, and some of the covering had come off the blades and was flapping in the breeze, hence the noise and power loss.

It was a long time before I tried another roll, and when I did I made absolutely sure that I was in Idle Up!!

Loops and rolls came after about 3/4 gallon. Inverted hovering after about 1 gallon. Then at about 1.5 gallons, i started trying funnels, and that put an end to the sceadu (R.I.P). I playd a lot on G2 before all that though.

Now i've got to save up some money and get another one.
