I have two computers which are connected by a router so I can have them both on the internet. I would like to go online with g2 but cant because I have to open some ports.
The router that I have is a D Link sys DI604, when we had cable installed the tech hooked all this up and I dont have the manual to look at.
If someone knows how to open the ports onthis router I could use any help offered. I know very little about computers, lets put it this way my daughter had to set up my e-mail for me

Thanks for all your help

Linksys has a website, www.linksys.com. The router you have must be a couple years old, as it's not listed on their site. You might try contacting them to see if they can offer you an assist.

Here is the link to the official D-Link page for the router you have..

Setting up port forwarding isn't difficult but there are some variations on the settings.. depends on the router and such.

Here is the G2 Multiplayer port forwarding info page:

You might want to get someone familiar with router setup to help you on this.

web sites

Thanks for the sites I've been to both of those sites and talked to realflight a number of times, they were real helpful but dlink sys were rude and didnt seem to want to help.
I did get a 24/7 tech line from the site you sent me and will try it, I dont really have any one that knows routers, my daughters are really good at it but dont know about routers.
If anyone can walk me thru it that would be great.

Thanks

i looked into doing this briefly, but realflight wants 102 ports open. There's no way i'm doing that just to play online with a sim. I need a very good reason before i open 1 port let alone the huge numbers realflight are talking about.

I'm not sure it needs that many ports open, are you sure it was just port number 102?

I'm pretty sure you can tell G2 which port you want to use anyway.

Special Applications
Some applications require multiple connections, such as Internet gaming, video conferencing, Internet telephony and others. These applications have difficulties working through NAT (Network Address Translation). If you need to run applications that require multiple connections, specify the port normally associated with an application in the "Trigger Port" field, select the protocol type as TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) or UDP (User Datagram Protocol), then enter the public ports associated with the trigger port to open them for inbound traffic. At the bottom of the screen, there are already defined well-known special applications. To use them, click on the edit icon and enable the service.
Name - This is the name referencing the special application.
Trigger Port - This is the port used to trigger the application. It can be either a single port or a range of ports.
Trigger Type - This is the protocol used to trigger the special application.
Public Port - This is the port number on the WAN side that will be used to access the application. You may define a single port or a range of ports. You can use a comma to add multiple ports or port ranges.
Public Type - This is the protocol used for the special application.

Initial TCP Connection
6073 Outbound - Client
6073 Inbound - Server

Subsequent UDP Inbound

2300-2400

The help information definitely says all these ports are required, which adds up to 102 ports if i'm not mistaken. TBH I stopped looking into multiplayer after reading that, so i have no idea if you can restrict the ports in game
