| Run it to get it warmed up; then have your buddy hold the tx while you hold the airplane. Holding the airplane straight and level, go to full throttle. Let it run there for about 10 seconds, then point the plane straight up.
This is a quick'n'dirty mixture check. If the engine sags, it is too lean. This test simulates the prop "unloading" once the plane is flying on the wing; there will be a definite rpm increase, and sometimes this is just enough to make the engine lean out and quit. Hence, the caveat to always run your engine a few clicks on the rich side.
Few things are worse than engine failure right after the model has gotten airborne.
