hi guys, i have a hummingbird with a e-tec 1200 7.4 volt pack and an orion elite micro modified motor, there are no other mods. yesterday the motor made funny noises and decided to kick the bucket. iv been reading that you need a high frequencey speed controler for the main motor especialy the orion elite micro modified. but unless its got a needle valve i know nothing about them. was woundering if someone could take the time out and give me some info on what this means and what brands offer this high frequencey thingy magiggy. i only want to spend the least amount of dollars possible. i wouldent mind going brushless but not only cant i afford the motor and speedy i also heard you need 3 cell lipo instead of 2 cell's ( apparently 2 cells dont cut it )

You can use a 2 cell OR a 3 cell LiPo battery with a Razor Micro Heli brushless motor. I had my Orion burn up too so I switched to an Acro280BB. So far I am very happy with this motor and it has run and run.

However, rather than wasting more money on trying different motors, I am going brushless for my HB. I kept saying I never would but now I see why people strongly suggest it. With all the money I have spent on motors I could have bought a brushless.

I am going to get the Razor Micro Heli V2/Phoenix 10 controller combo. The controller can be programmed for 2 or 3 cell batteries. I have read that others are running this set up with 2 cell batteries with zero problems, even when using the Hornet CF FP blades.

If you don't want to spend the money for a brushless motor, then get an Acro280BB instead. It works just fine with the humming board, and even better with the Hornet blades.

There are a variety of places that sell the motors, but most if not all are out of stock. If you order directly from Razor, there is at least a two week wait.

I plan on getting my combo from BPP.

Also the new Phoenix 10 controller is about the size of a dime and it has a couple more features. You can read all about it by going to the manufacturers website. They also have the instructions for it.

As far as a speed controller for the tail motor, I was told that the Schulze SLIM 105he is one of the best. It is a bit pricy at $44.00, but is probably what I will end up getting. FXA has them.

Many people just use the GWS ICS-50. Helihobby has them for $18.50.
