Aerial Photography and Video > Would an old TSK gasser be ok?

Hi there,
I have had some problems with my first group of photos. I have been trying with my raptor30 and mounting my camera at the back of the helicopter, behind/under the fuel tank, strapped to the tail supports.

All the photos I have taken seems to be clouded up with glow smoke.

I was wondering if an old TSK gas machine ( second hand of course ) would be good for taking some good first photos?

Anyone have any thoughts on the TSK gasser as a camera ship?

Has anyone dealt with TSK gas machines for aerial photos?

I'd say no.

You'll be very hard pressed to get ANY parts for it. No one's making any.
I have two MyStar 60's and I don't fly them right now. One's planned for a fuse and the other is for PARTS.

vetrider: If I would need parts, what parts would I need, which parts would wear to the point of replacement after extensive use?

Clutches, Main shafts, Feathering spindles, tail rotor parts, and Bearings associated with those parts.
Sometimes things get bent just from transporting the heli. Not counting hard landings or crashes.

If you have one, TSK gasser, I'd say use it till you can't anymore then look at another supported brand. Make your camera pod so it's universal to different heli's. I think you can fine lots of info on that here on RR.
Contact some of the guys that were posting about going to the storm "Isabel" 2 weeks ago.

Good luck.

TSK Gasser

Hi Mark

Here is a pic of my Gasser in action. It has now been retired and sold as spares to another TSK owner.

I found it a very reliable machine well put together but a little on the heavy side.

I would suggest that you go for another brand of machine that is well supported in your area.
