I purchased this heli with the intention of making it into an electric heli. I could never find anyone to make a motor mmount for me. Also they came out with the electric version and to me that seems the better way to go. I dont think there is anything wrong with this heli that is why I am buying the same one just the diferent version. As far as tradeing it mabee a Hacker brushless motor

Question?

Yeah, I have been thinking about getting a Quick Fuel heli. I Have and ECO-8 and a Raptor. I purchased the Quick EP-10 Electric Deluxe kit about two weeks ago and just tarted putting it together last night.

What motor are you supposed to use in the 15?

How long have you had it?

Motor combo

Jody:

I got your email last might and here are some options for powering the heli that seem to work for me.

First of all, congratulations on the EP purchase! I think you will really like the heli. The trick is going to be matching the motor/pinion/esc/battery/blade combo.

I have found that two different setups work depending on your flying style.

The EP will fly on 10 cells, but it will be a mild setup and will not have a lot of power for aerobatics. In this case, the following combos would apply:

Motor: Hacker B50-11L
Pinion: 13T or 14T
ESC: Hacker/Jeti 48-3P
Cells: 10 2400 MiMH
Or 3S4P (lighter and better performance)
Blades: 440 glass or carbon

If you are looking for a hot setup then this would be the way to go:

Motor: Hacker C50-13L
Pinion: 10T or 11T
ESC: Jeti 70 or Phoenix 80
Cells: 12 2400 NiMH
Or 4S4P (Very Hot and lighter)
Blades: 475 Carbons

This is the hot setup. I actually could swing Logo 500s with this if I extended the boom some. I currently have this setup in my converted 15 and it will out climb my Raptor 30!

Another option would be the Aveox 36/24/2 and a 10T pinion. I have one that I am testing with the EP right now and will let you guys know how it works out.

Hope this helps.

Jim!

Thanks Jim,
Is the B50-15L way too large or unecessary? I am nowere near areobacts but I dont want to limit myself. Also what about Li-polys is that an option? Do you recomend a place to purchase the motor and esc? Thanks Jody

Greg,
When I purchased it, they were calling it a 15 but now its a Quickie 18.
So I assume an .18 size engine works better. I never had the intention of making it a nitro. Other than putting it together its brand new. this one comes with wooden blades and a canopy which I understand the latest ones do not.(pretty ugly canopy)$199.99 Shipped

go2heli:

If you are looking for a good motor to fly the Quickie EP around for casual aerobatics and general flying, the B50-11L is a great performance motor to run on 10 cells. In addition, a 3S4P pack will be a hot setup as it will save a bit of weight over a NiCad or NiMh pack. Lighter is better.

You could go with the B50-18S, but I tested that motor and it did not seem to have the torque that this heli needs. It's a good motor for a Eco, but then the Eco is a lighter heli.
