i cant seem to find a place to put a header tank on my raptor 30
there isnt any room for it
wherever i put it it doesnt fit
once its too far away from the engine or its beneath the engine or too close to the gears
anyone has a good idea??
p.s - im using a round type of header tank not the box shaped one.
thanks

I used an exsiting hole on the right side of the chopper (looking from behind). It is located above and to the rear of the cutout to the fuel tank. You will notice a lateral rib that runs just above it. If your tank mount hits the rib, notch it to fit. Mine works perfect. Bought a hayes 2 oz. tank and made my own mount out of thin steel strapping material. Whole setup cost about $4.00.

You can see a pic of my header tank mount at http://www.vftp.net/rchelicopters/raptor/r1/index.html , it's mounted so as to not be in the way of anything. This did require drilling a hole. I later added a wire-tie to it because the tank liked to rotate around in the mounting hole, even though I added a star washer. (you can see it's turned a little in the picture) It's nice and solid now.

I tried mounting it to the unused hole to the right, but that large protrusion that runs above it didn't allow the tank to sit flush, and it also blocked access to the main tank, so I made a hole where it worked best.

Such a little hole is not going to compromise the strength of the frame.

Note also the remote glow connector, below and left of the needle valve. Much better than having to remove the canopy to start it.

drilled a hole but...

i have a round header tank and not a rectangular
and the header is positioned about 1 or 2 cm above the main tank
and because of that the pipe going to the carb so as the pipe going from the main tank to the header are higher than the main fuel tank which means the fule has to be pumped upward is that a problem??

about that remote plug
i dont have a pic but i connected a RCA female plug to the engine plug unstead of buying a TT remote plug and built a battery with a male RCA plug and thats it.

Until you run out of fuel in your main tank, the header tank remains full and acts just like a fuel line with a big bulge in it. It makes no difference where (vertically) you mount it until you run your main tank dry. Then you will get differing performance depending on where it's at in relation to your main tank. It'll either run leaner or richer as a result, but not by much. Higher than the main tank means richer, lower gets you leaner.

On the other hand, this can be a good thing. If you weren't minding the clock you'd get a nice indication that you were "on grace" with your fuel by the change in the engine performance and know it's time to take it down for refueling.

Buy a Dave Brown Tune pipe mount. Once you get one you will see how it will mount your Header tank. It is about $4 and works great. Been using them since I have been flying. One of the veterans turned me on to them. Its a simple mount. Spacer, screw and a piece that is half moon shaped that the tank fits to with two zip ties. Let me know if you can't figure it out.
