Hey everyone, I just thought I would share this link.
http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/hobby/fsc.htm
I made this interface last year and was using it on Realflight until I upgraded to Win 2000. I recently downloaded FMS and have been using it on that and it has been working excellent! I can't wait until 7 comes out!
Take care!

Bit of a hassle that, you need an old transmitter.
Today I went out and bought a Gravis Eliminator [After]Shock.
Although the software isn't finished yet for 2000, the pad itself works apart from the rumble pad.
The pad cost me £25 (rrp £30) and is US$39.99 rrp.

It has two analogue joysticks in a good place for simulating a real Tx. The two 'precision' buttons can be used to simulate the exponential function on a Tx.

It also looks like it would be good for Quake as well

Interface

I found this to be easy to covert. I already had an old Conquest transmitter and I used the cable from an old joystick that I bought at a yard sale for .25 cents.
I did have a problem finding the correct potentiometers but I did end up finding them at a local electronics store! Arghhh Don't ask why I didn't look there first!
I'm not familiar with the interface you are talking about but I do know that making this one only cost me about $20 Canadian (for the pots) and it works great.
I have used it on Flightsim 98 and Combat sim as well.
It's a great little project if you like tinkering with stuff like this!
Here I am just starting another round of FMS!

The trouble is that most people that need to use a sim badly won't have an old Tx to dissmantle. What I used was a joystick you can buy from electronics boutique (I know they exist in america, dunno about canada) and it seems to work fine, but it is very new so all the software isn't available yet for 2000 and XP. It probably costs around CAN$70 and can then be used for games as well.

On another note....

So far I have built five of the interfaces for friends and they all work fantastic! I believe a couple of the transmitters were AM Attack 4's as well.
Remember what I said about the yard sale? I had actually gotten a box of assorted R/C junk at a yard sale for $5 and the transmitter was included in it.
You never know what you will find at a yard sale!
I originally wanted to use an old Kyosho Astro System 4 channel transmitter and i had ripped it apart before I found the Futaba conversion. The problem with it was it had electronic trims instead of mechanical and I never though about it at the time, but I probably could have made it worked if I had studied where the trims were wired to.
I still might give it a try anyway someday!
Does anyone know what other transmitters use a mechanical trim?
Thanx!
