hi.. i am new to helis but have been flying planes for some time now..and i just got thinking about something.. does a heli need to be balanced ?similar to a plane? and how is that achieved? thanks

Yes, balance is just as critical with helis. Lift up on the flybar when it is 90 degrees to the heli, and you will be able to see tail or nose heavy. If it balances, leave it alone, if tail heavy put weight in the nose, if nose heavy put weight on the tail. Get the weight out as far as possible to minimize the weight needed. I would venture to say that all manufactures have their models balanced when they design them. Small differences in your equipment make up the weight you need to add.

lifting on the flybar

make sure when you lift by the fly bar that it is as close as possible to center. they bend bery easily and it doesnt take much to throw it out of wack.

Unless....

Unless it's a front fuel tank heli (ie. XL SE) or a rear tank heli (Milli).

As fuel is used c/g's change. Keep in mind which version you are compensating for.

Also are you balancing an empty, 1/2 full, or full tank?
