If you're using an FMA Co-pilot, this is something to watch out for...
I have one on my raptor that I used for a while, but for the last couple of weeks, I've had it set to 'off', since I'm getting better at flying. The Raptor is also nicely trimmed out now to hover basically hands-off...
Today, I removed the co-pilot to use on another heli, and when I went to fly the Raptor, it was WAY out of trim, and once retrimmed, reacted with quite a different level of sensitivity...
Basically, the warning is this: Just because you've turned off the co-pilot, don't think it isn't affecting your heli. At the 'off' setting, is it still coloring your controls a little and changing the swashplate neutral position. If you take it off the heli (as I did), the trims will be different, and the heli will fly differenty...
That having been said, I love the co-pilot, and recommend it to all new pilots. It's saved me a number of times, and more than paid for itself (probably, like 10 times over). Like a good simulator, I think it's an essential bit of gear for a newbie like me...
Just be careful when you take it off, even if you've been flying with it turned off... "OFF" is not really completely 'off'.
