| Hello
1) What settings should I use for the Phoenix ESC?
Lowest voltage cutoff(4V)
Disable current limit
Disable break
Gov mode low RPM(for low pole count--ie Hacker--motors)
Standard advanced timing
2) What sort of throttle curve should I use? I think I've seen in two places now people not even using values past 50% before the headspeed gets too high...
Use the governor. Id use an 8 tooth pinion with your setup and fly at 85% governor. Those low gov settings are not good for the controller it has to do lots of work, well that is how it is with the Schulze and Kontronik controller and I dont think it is any different with this one. Try to keep the gov throttle setting above 80% After you put the heli in gov mode all you need to do is set all the points in your curve to the one % and thats it. The controller has(or should have) a soft start it will gently spool up. I am assuming that you will set your pitch curve up in a switchless inverted fassion so start up at mid stick(0 degrees pitch). For your throttle hold, program in the same pitch curve used in the idle flight mode and just program the hold to 0% on the throttle; this will be your off switch/ auto swith.
Oh and so you know I fly my Pic Pro at 3000 RPM so I think yours should be ok at 85%-90% with an 8 tooth(probably around 2400 which is a good aerobatic flying RPM).
3) I don't want to CA my servos in place. What sort of double sided tape do you guys recommend instead?
Do not CA you servos. What I would do is trace the servo profile onto carbon fiber (or any nice flat material that doesnt weight a lot) and cut 3 of those plate out. Glue them to where you would have glued your servos. Use a high quality double sided tape(3M all weather or the standared white 3M foam double sided tape) and you are set.
4) What is the nominal voltage of the Etec 3-cell 1200mah pack, so I can program my Triton correctly? Also, what charge rate do you recommend for slow charging and for safe fast charging? (Also for the first couple of break in charges, if neccessary.)
On the Triton choose the setting that says 11.1 volts(the nominal voltage for a single cell is 3.7 volts and that times 3 is 11.1). The pack will charge to 12.6V because the max charge for each cell is 4.2 volts.
5) Should I break in the stock tail motor? If so, how?
You do not need to break in your tail motor. |
