It depends on a couple of things. How old is the enamel that you want to cover? What I mean is how long has that paint been there? What kind of enamel is it?

Mort, the enamel is plastic coat (white base). It is about 24 hrs old right now. I dont like the Pactra paints, because they are not very user friendly when masking, wet sanding lines etc. But they have lots of great colors and they come in small qauntities, I shoot PPG 20-21 over it then all is great. Im doing flames and had trouble masking over the pactra, so I base coated with the enamel. Now I stuck trying to find enamels in the right flourecents and I cant find'em. Thanks for your help.

Next time you want to mask over the Pactra, get yourself a clear that's call cut-in clear. Sherwin-Williams carrys it. Or just get get some acrylic lacquer in a spray can. Spray it over the Pactra and let dry then mask.

Now lets get back to Pactra not be user friendly. If your talking about there Racing Finish, well that paint is weak, it was design for R/C car bodies. I use it from time to time. Next instead of trying to sand the lines try a scotch brite pad, just scuff over the edges to break them down. I take a scrap piece of plastic or metal and shoot some of that enamel down let dry. Then shoot the Pactra lacquer on it to see what happens. If your real good with a airbrush you shoot the lacquer on the enamel by spraying very light coats until the color is built up to where you want it.
