Thunder Tiger Raptors 30-90 - Imperio > Raptor 30 clutchbell removal=EASY! Lets set the record straight!

I just want to set the record straight. In earlier post (clutch liner gone in 60 sec.) I was venting about the clutch liner falling out during the first minute. I think I had my reason to be upset about it. The idea of having all the hard work of building it and wiring it, go to waste by having to split the frames etc.. was making me angry at the Rappy. When I actually sat down to do it, it took me all but 20 minutes to get the clutchbell out. These posts are read by experienced as well as newbie members and visitors. I don't want to scare off anyone potentially considering a Rappy for their first heli because of clutchbell removal. So in Rappy's defense here goes:
If you do have a problem with the clutch, it takes about 20min or less to get it out. Here is what you need to do.
1. Remove the landing gear.
2. Remove the screws holding the engine mount and drop the engine with the mound as one piece.
3. Remove the starter hex coupling up top.
4. Push or lightly tap the clutchbell shaft until it clears the top bearing
5. The clutchbell now comes down through the hole in the fanshroud and is in your hands.
6. Push or lightly tap the starter shaft down through the clutchbell.
You are done.

I would have been upset too,,, I meen, I was madder than you when my new Raptor threw a main blade on it's third flight and blew up, parts went everywhere,,, but now when I think of it, it was funny to see all those parts fly, it went poof, it was funny, but I didn't think so at that time, boy if my young son was not there I would have said all the bad words I could have thought of !! But that was about 8 weeks ago...
I used a very thick marine epoxy on my clutch liner, I scuffed up the liner and the bell (a little) with 220 sand paper and then I cleaned the liner and the bell with rubbing alcohol before I glued !! When I removed my OS 32 from the broken heli I noticed that the clutch shoe was rubbing in one spot on the liner so I probably would have had clutch trouble or a broken shoe later on ! And I do remember when I installed the motor/clutch assembly that it was quite a bit out of alignment, this alignment problem must be in the motor mount !!!

Flatspin, no need to take out the landing gear. After the start shaft is out, just gently grasp the pinion with pliers (wrap it in a washcloth first) and twist off the bell. Viola! Takes less than 10 minutes!!
