| I'm rebuilding my Tsurugi (an oldie but a goodie!)
I've decided to go with the bearing blocks from Larry Bergen (yes, you can still get Tsurugi frames and blocks from Larry)
I've got everything put together, but I've run into one snag.
The lower mainshaft block incorporates a thrust bearing. (The original metal XX block it replaces only had a radial brg.) The only way that everything lines up (main gear to clutch pinion to t/r pinion gear) is to use the upper set of holes for the lower block. The problem is that the lower block now interferes with the rear elevator belcrank. The most obvious fix would be to drill a new set of mounting holes for the belcrank to raise it up a distance equivalant to the upper bblock holes , but before I perform surgery I wanted to see if anybody has any experience with this problem.
I talked with Larry Bergen about it. He say that he sold several sets of frames and blocks many years ago and they definitely do work, but it's been such a long time since he even thought about Tsurugis he couldn't help..
I'm hoping some of you fellow former & current 'Rugi aficionados can help before I go drilling holes in my pretty new frames!
