e-Mikado Logo 400 500 600 > Anyone using 14 cells on their Logo 10?

Hello people, anyone using 14 cells on their Logo 10? I'm trying to deside whether or not to go to Sanyo 3000 mAh NiMH 14 cells? I have a Logo 10, HackerB50-11L, Hacker 48-3P ESC, 13th pinion and use Sanyo 2400 NC 12 cells.
Do you think the Sanyo 3000 mAh 14 cells will work better then the Sanyo 2400 NC 12 cells? or should I try Sanyo 3000 mAh NiMH 12 cells instead? Are the extra 2 cells weight going to be a difference in flying compaired to the 12 cells? What about the difference between NC cells and NiMH cells, which ones give you more power and longer battery life? Any insight to the battery question will be helpfull.

Thank You,
Cheers, Patrick

Chris,

What charger are you using for you Li-Polys?

Jeff

To hover is divine, the alternative is rather PLANE.

I have both an Orbit and the Triton, either will work just fine.

If you're thinking about running 14 cells...or any packs..you might consider the HR-2600s from www.dynamoelectrics.com These nimhs pack more punch than any of the 3000s-3300s...get better duration too (yeah hard to believe)

They can be charged from 2-5 amps or more and deliver that strong punch throughout the flight..but when they're done...they're done.

I just bought a Logo 10, and will be running 14 cells....

Running 14 cells at XYZ setup, although it allows more power available, could set it up for the same power, yet due to the increased voltage, you'll have lower current draw, so longer flight times.

500mm blades
I have been running 14 cell panasonic ultra metal 3000 for about month now with no problem
Go for it

This weekend I will be trying my new Thunder Power Lipos 4s4p 8200 packs I sure hope there as good as every no says

RcMan, what kind of run times are you getting with your set up and 14 cells?

I'm running the same motor with a 13t pinion, I'm currently running 12 cell rc 2400's , It runs strong but I'm wondering if I could get a little more run time also with a cell or two more. I'm running about 1700rpm headspeed but a little more can't hurt... I'm trying to find out if run time may change a bit also or just power, if it's just power, I'll stick to the 12 cells as I'm happy with the power...

With the Panasonic 3000 I get 5 min right on the money
That is doing 3D flying with the throttle set on idle up 1 (90%)
The Head speed is 1785

Your setup may give you a little more run time then what I have
I am looking for 3D flight and that is why I have settled on this setup

As a side note
The Thunder Power 4s4p 8200 mah pack I can fly for 30 mins before chargering again and it is lighter then the 14 cells packs with more power
They are very cool, Charlie has done very well on these pack
I would highly recommend them to anyone...

A TP 4S4P-8200 pack is $300. Sounds like a lot, but work out the cost per flight minute and guess what... Cheaper than NiCd or NiMh!

Hello,

im flying 12 cell RC3000HV Sanyo, but i like to upgrade to 14 cells GP3300. They have more power, because you have higher ratio....

i got out of mine usually a hovering, slow flying of 9:30 minutes...

I get around 6.5 to 7 minutes of hovering and slow flight with my Sanyo 12 cell 2400 NiCd battery packs. I just got my new battery packs in today and I charged them up. I will test right now and see if they have more power and flight duration? I'm going to be using Sanyo 2400 mAh 14 cell NiCd packs. Will write back tonight with the outcome.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Hi,

I'm flying a Logo 10 with Kontronic 600-17 Beat combo on 14cells (3300Mah pushed/matched).

I get a nice 10 minutes of slow flying/hovering.

Recently tried to stretch this to 12 minutes but this is where I crashed as too little energy was left to bail out of a nasty situation.

Greetz,

Marc

Just got home from flying the new packs. They last about 8.5 to 9 minutes of hovering and slow flight. The only real difference is the head speed and power. There's a big difference with the 14 cells compaired to the 12 cells. I'm getting a little more then 2000 RPM, almot 2100. I think it's a bit too high for what I'm doing, so I will have to tone it down a bit. Lowering the head speed will probably increase my flight time? With the 12 cell pack's I was getting about almost 1800 RPM. I would like to get the head speed to around 1900 RPM or so.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

14 cells is a bit much for the B50 11L in the logo 10. if you could fit a pinion smaller thn 13 teeth it would be Ok, but with that limitation, i found 12 cells to be the most without getting the motor in the danger zone with heat. I'm not flying 4S4P 8200 thunder power packs, have been since february in the logo 10's. Due to the higher voltage (somewhere between 13 and 14 roundcells equivalent) I've went to the C50 13L and 13 tooth pinion. Dunno how other perform, but there's a short video of my logo 10 from my sunday demo at the NEAT fair on the ezone. Has a little "oops" at the end while I was cutting a little grass inverted and got a few millimeters too low , but there's a few minutes on there of the flight performance before the crash to compare to other setups. This setup gives me 20ish minutes (give or take a couple minutes depending on how hard I fly it). The only "downfall" I've seen with the lipoly packs is that they're so light (4S4P is less than a 10-cell 2600 pack in weight, but equivalent to 13~14 cell pack in performance) that CG becomes an issue. I've installed the carbon battery support and run the pack WAY forward, till it basically touches the canopy front to get CG right. I'm thinking a 5S4P pack with a milder wind motor (higher voltage and lower current, even longer flights, with even more power) might be a good combo, but with 20 minute flights allready, it's not really needed.

Hey Gary
Maybe a C50 15L motor would work out for the 5s4p
You may hit 35 minintes

Saint, so you got roughly 2 more minutes of flight time plus the higher headspeed? Cooool! Yes, if you lower headspeed by way of gearing, you'll get even longer flight times, if you lower it by way of throttle %, things will probably run hotter and you may not really get longer flight times...

I did hear that 11 and 12 t pinions are available for Logo 10 but not for 5mm shaft but for a smaller shaft, I forgot exactly what size, maybe you can have the shaft machined to the correct size?
