Why ccpm when the R50 flys so well STD mix? Also can I get some real prices on what the best electronics(batts/esc/motor/charger)will set me back?I'm facinated with the thought of a E-Rappy50 that flys as good as a glo kit.

2 that I can think of. you can loose the servo tray to lighten it up and 120 give better control than 90

If I could buy a 30 V1 with plans to make it an ERaptor 50, would this be a good way to go if the 30 was $200 including an engine I could sell?

What does it take to go from a 30 V1 to a 50 V2?

to make a 50 out of a 30 for an electric convertion all you need is a 50 tail boom, belt, blades and maybe a bigger main gear from a bigger raptor. you could experiment with the R30 and upgrade to 50 if you like it. The R50 it up there with the logo 20. bigger, bigger motor, mor batteries more money.

There are lots of differences between the 30 V1 and the 50 V2.

The diff between the 30 and 50 is tailboom and belt.

The diff between the V1 and the V2 is new fames (heavier) and significant head updates.

Most people don't bother converting a 30 size Raptor because there is minimal weight difference for the heavier disk load of the 30. You would use the same motor/mount/pack/etc...

The head updates of the V2 are nice, but I've been reasonably happy with all the V1 components, especially the lighter frames. Every little bit counts on these conversions...

I really am interested in seeing with Ace/TT comes up with next year....

Yes trimming the fan shroud out is a good idea. I wouldn't drill it out too much though...

You can see what I did from my pic

What do you need to know about the LiPo packs?.

What's the average flight endurance of the RaptorE?

How much does the convertion cost? (Batteries including)?

What about the flight performance?

Check out my E-Raptor. Bought as a 30v2, converted to a 50. Custom made carbon frames, CCPM system and integrated battery mounts similar to Logo Bionic to raise battery weight higher into heli. Flies great on 6s TP lipo/hacker b50-17xl/48-3p/93t main/8t pinion for about 20 minutes. Thinking of changing pack for more extreme power.

Click on the 'Raptor Bionicish' album.

Cost:
30v2 kit ~ $270
b50-17xl ~ $239
48-3p esc ~ $170
8t pinion ~ $15
6s4p TP lipo ~ $460
Orbit charger ~ $300 or Astro Charger ~ $130

carbon frames were $50 for a sheet of carbon from MJP carbon and several days of work.

Gear Slip

I have just finished my electric conversion on my Raptor 50. I have installed a hacker B 50 15XL and a hacker 48-3P opto ESC. I have set the gear lash as tight as I can with out binding and have set up the ESC for "Heli or no brake". It seems to skip a gear or two on startup, but I don't have any kind of visual gear wear. I have been manually spinning the blades to take some load off on start up. That works fine, but I'm wondering if there is a better solution. I'm flying 20 cells @ 3300 mha, and it flies just like it did with the OS 50.
Thanks for any help you can give me on the gear slip.

Kev,

does it make the noise at startup then go right away? If so, I believe it's the ESC and not any slipping. It's doing some sort of calibration. Mine does the same thing with the Schulze, looks like slippage, but I can see the main gear not rotating, just shakingm then it comes right out of it.

BTW: Run away from the cheapie Astroflight LiPo charger. The algorithm for detecting cell count is flawed and has resulted in explosion/fire. I would not purchase a charger where I couldn't set a cell count for LiPos...

Yes, thats exactly what it does. I can't see the main gear slipping either, and I can't see any gear wear or plastic dust anywhere. I think you may have solved my problem. I have a Logo 20 and I run the lash quite tight. I had it slip once and lost the main gear, so I guess I'm kind of sensitive about slippage. Thanks for the post. Now I can fly with one less worry.
