I'm gona get myself a JetCopter heli just as soon as I can save up enough coins to buy one. My question is: What else do I need besides the obvious (radio, gyro, servos, flight line support equipment,etc) to make the kit ready to fly? Does a v-pipe come with the kit? If not, what is the best and where do you get them. How much more "stuff" am I going to have to buy before I can fly?

I've never seen anyone discuss the HotCat by JetCat. The kit seems to be priced about the same as the JetCopter that Vario sells. What has been anyone's experience?

It's a big investment and I need some confidence-building assurances so I can get that warm fuzzy feeling when I plunk down a bunch of money.

Go for this one and you have nothing to buy except the electronics like servos etc...and the turbine. Everything else is inlcuded. Even the tanks and the exhaust...

Jetcopter

A guy in san antonio made it for me but I don't know if he is still doing them. Rick Gonzales @ 210 654-6828 -- first class work!

I get as many if not more comments about his pipe than the heli.

You want to spend the money and go with duralite batt for the RX and the ECU, other wise you will charge after every 2-3 flights. I am up 10 flights so far this weekend on mine!! And still going

I would also recomend you getting a Jersey Fueler.

After that you will need some power max propane fuel, you can get it at any sporting goods store that has coleman camping stuff.

Then your ready to fly!

If you plan on flying at a AMA event or field you will need to get your turbine waiver.

I flew down to one of the fly-ins at waco and did both my fixed and rotary wing demos and ground school with Kevin Whitlow -- He is a Jetcat Rep.

DO NOT BOTHER WITH THE HELI ELIOT IS POSTING !! Look at the SP5 coming out this late fall from JetCat !! there are known name heli manufacturers coming out with 3D style mechanics for the SP5 ! Jetcat is # with product quality, support, and service.

If you want to later move to a scale aplication, the HP5 based Jetcopter is a good choice ...

JetCopter SX

Hi I'm a newby here, and I'm looking for a good acrobatics turbine trainer.
I was following the posts about the SX and some other variants or constructions.

Is there a video clip out there, that shows acrobatics with the SX or maybe some action pictures (like loops, inverted flight, rolls).

At home I have only seen some mild Acrobatics like loops done with a fuselage heli at the StJohann Austria funfly in spring.

Can someone post some good pictures or links here?

The Jason Krause video is of a Jetcopter. He is being very gentle with it, since it's not his, I guess.

While a Jetcopter can fly harder, it won't 3D like the SPS powered helicopters. There a couple of videos of an SPS powered Predator.

Based on what i see in the video the Zyclone does not out perform the Jetcopter. All the same manuvers can be performed with the Jetcopter and i have done even more with it. I would submise that the performance is about the same between the two. So the deciding factor would be the price, parts availablility, product support and turbine support. I whish i had video of my Jetcopter flying but i had a boom stike doing an auto on my last flight and i am setting it up for scale now.

will i see a lot of differences as far as the videos that i have seen on the jet copter...
(if anyone has any better video of the jet copter flying other than that of the one with Jason flying it, then please, post it, because that really does that helicopter no justice as far as being 3-D capable...)
i think the Zyclone has made its point, and lets remember too, this is not a 1.5 meter helicopter doing this stuff, it is a 14 lb. 1.8 meter machine...
As far as the parts availability issue goes, well, lets just say this, if Sandy of V-EAST is going to be handling the helicopter, then parts will never be an issue for the machine.
Although, i do know for a fact that the jet copter uses a lot of VARIO parts, and they have always had parts supply issues.
One of my friends just got his blades for his VARIO bell 47 gasser.
IT TOOK THEM A YEAR AND ELEVEN MONTHS TO GET THEM TO HIM.
Hmmm???
would you wait for almost two years to get a set of blades?

AS far as flight performance I have first hand experience with the jet copter. I am not a REP for Vario or JetCat but I do own and fly a Jet copter SX and a lot of people have seen me fly it at many fun fly's on the East Coast. As far as 3D capable I can truly say that neither the Jet copter or the Zyclone are truly 3D machines! With the 1400 max head speed you are limited to advanced aerobatics only!

I am able to perform consecutive rolls, loops, split S, immelman turns, inverted flight, funnels ( only big ones), Hammer heads, 90 and 180 stall turns and Autos..... Ask any of the guys that attended OC Bobs gathering and they will contest on the flight performance of the Jet copter. you can also ask any of the guys that attended the MHA, Hirobo cup East or the NYC fun fly as well.

When you are dealing with Manufacturers in Europe you can expect delays no matter what your local dealer says. and you have other avenues for blades I.E. vario, graupner, SAB, MAH etc......

I am sorry for your friend waiting 23 months for blades but he could have also gotten vario blades from the UK in less then 2 weeks....

Sorry that I do not have video but there is a video available from Yapadu on the 2003 MHA event.

So if you really want to know what a Jet copter can do you should have asked the right question to the right people instead of blasting it without any knowledge of it first hand........

ha ha ha ha ha !!!! that is the funniest crap I have EVER HEARD !!!! there is no one else as bad in the hobby industry as Sandy at getting orders filled .... I twice tried making orders from him and both times he was unable to deliver !! At least I was lucky to get my money back rather easily, as he is known to keep other peoples cash an live off of it ... I sent him a deposit on a PHT3 when he first anounced he was goinf to be selling them, after MONTHS past deadline, i canceled and got it feom Jetcat (I have 3 now, all of which i would have bought from Sandy if he had his **** straight ! ) I reacently tried buying a NH-90, and he was not able to make delivery on that either !! After he stalled me for an extra 1.5 weeks, with a lie here and there, i got my $ back, and ordered the same heli for less overseas and had it in 4 days !!!!!! Great fcukin distributo V-East is huh ?

you want the real deal on Sandy ? get a hold of Len Mount, and ask him !!, or try Vario, or any other manufacturer who by now REFUSES to deal with this clown !!

by the way, the Jetcopter does at 19 LBS (dry) what the zyclone does at you stated 14lbs ... I have one (well, had, as i took it apart to stuff in a fuse ) and it will easily match and out do anything that Zyclone video shows ...

zzmotorzz, please stop trying to make yourself feel better ... Im sorry that you picked the wrong heli from the wrong guy ...

Guess I have to agree with Alan that limited aerobatics should be it for a turbine heli system anyway. I'm a scaler at heart and the advent of turbine power is a fantastic creation. I can't really speak 3D since the only 3D I've ever done was purely accidental, and luckly I was at a "3 oh ****" alititude. Plus I really couldn't justify the expense if my "stupid thumbs", or an mechanical failure caused a big smokin hole in the ground.
I will say this for Sandy......in the last 4 years of dealing with him, I've never had a service problem period. He's always gone the extra mile for me and all the folks I've sent his way.

i'll second that copter doc. every time i need help or parts, sandy is there without hesitation. it's good to know a distributor in this hobby cares more about his customers than his profit margins. keep up the great work sandy.
