I just finished repairing my frame from a close encounter of the dirt kind, and was just curious what everyone else uses to repair their frames from MINOR damage. I'm not talking cracked in half... just like posts snapped off or threads stripped etc.

It may depend on the actual frame. I tried to repair a Raptor 30 frame, the epoxy wouldn't stick to it. I guess the plastic was still greasy even after washing it with hot water and soap.

JB or Epoxy?

I guess for a stripped hole that is NOT in a critcal area it would be OK to repair. In all other cases I would not risk an injury for the sake of saving a few dollars. Anyone who "Mickey Mouses" a part to save a buck over safety should be in another hobby--far-far away from where I fly.

IMPO repairing instead of replacing is just asking for problems of the worse degree. Bite the bullet! Spend the bucks, and be safe.

Build it, fly it, crash it. Repeat as often as needed.

JB Epoxy Ductape And Fiberglass

and sometimes zipties all work great and if your all out you can use electrical tape but make sure you wrap it at least 18 times

I've used JB Weld (for non-critical repairs). Even Curtis uses the stuff!

I used JB Weld in conjuction with some light carbon fibre weave to repair my nexus, but then again it was not in a critical area..

JB or Epoxy?

I used velcro, spit, bubble gum and garbage bag ties ONCE! Didn't work out too well. Use NEW parts, unless you have X-ray vision.

I took mud from where my heli lawndarted and formed a bond over the frame heated it in the oven to 425 degree and made a mold than I went to a plastic molding company and they formed the part for me. It cost me ony $2500.00 and the part was just like the original.

Repair?

Now THAT would be a perfectly safe and acceptable repair!
