I'm sad to report that a battle was lost today in the war with gravity. I've heard that what goes up must come down....but why must it come down so hard? Couldn't bring myself to take any pictures, it was a sight that I would rather just forget. The only luck I seemed to have today was finding that all my electronics were miraculously still working . Oh well, time to move on to bigger and better things I guess.
Please, when you go to bed tonight, say a little prayer for my Nexus. She's up there somewhere, swooping and diving - in that big 'ol airfeild in the sky!

MY WALLET ALREADY HURTS

Sorry for the crash.

It happens to the best and the rest of us.

Things to check:

Receiver Ok? If there's signs of impact on the casing, better range check it or have it checked by the manufacturer.

Servos Ok? Connect to receiver and test for signs of gears stripped or inability to hold center due to faulty motor or potentiometer.

Gyro Ok? Look for signs of impact on sensor/amplifier.

Did you determine the cause for the crash? If not, it's best to find out if it's pilot error (disorientation) or mechanical problem. This will ensure that the equipment will fly again without the same problem occuring again.

Keep your chin up.

Dave
A little frequency interferance brought it into a hard right bank that resulted in a nose in situation, which i'm not totally comfortable with yet. Buy the time i could react, she was about 10 feet from the ground doing about 50 MPH. So i guess at that point i was a little "disoriented". I've had a chance to go over most all servos, rx, battery and gyro - can't seem to find anything wrong with 'em. So i guess I have good gear and a good engine for a new heli!!!!

RIP

Byronman, Hang in there when I crashed my Raptor 30 last year on its maiden voyage I made the mistake of having my wife with me at the time.We just stood there looking at each other and the smashed heli for a long time.I know how you feel. Its gets better.I now fly a Sceadu 30.
Good luck, Jerry

Double check those electronics!

Since it sounds like you might have hit hard I recomend you send that reciever in and get it checked out. Let them know it was in a crash. Also if you had a GY401 Gyro you might consider sending it in too.

Sorry to hear about your splat. I unfortunatly have had my share too. You'll get over it. Your wallet might not but you will.

I'm sorry to hear that and you have my deepest sympathies. I never like to hear that another one went down but unfortunately it's part of our hobby.

As everyone else said, go double or triple check your electronic equipment and then go for a Raptor or Sceadu 30.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt. I put my Nexus in nose first at about 60mph coming down the backside of a loop. Not enough back stick or altitude. You can imagine the carnage. (I still have the main shaft with a 90 deg bend as a memento) But I was having fun with her before that and she died doing what she loved to do. I feel your pain. It will pass, in time. You'll have lot's of fun with your new machine but you'll always have those memories of the fun times you and your Nexus shared together.

Remember if you build 'em you gotta fly 'em and if you fly 'em you're gonna break 'em. There's no way out of that axiom..........

Good luck and have fun with whatever your next heli may be.

<<...she died doing what she loved to do...>>

Sniff, sniff.

Cut it out, guys; I'm getting all dewey-eyed here...

Crashing sucks; period. I'm long overdue for a real mainshaft-bender, myself.

Byronman, you have our condolences. But take to heart what several said about getting your electronics THOROUGHLY checked out. The only thing worse than crashing is crashing again due to component failure; particulary a failure that could have been prevented.

Raptor?

I've already been doing some shopping around. Best deal so far is the 29 BB Rappy from Cyberheli for $199. Awesome price I must say!!! I was wondering if anyone has ordered from them lately and what can I expect for shipping cost? Should I pay the extra for the 49 BB kit, or just upgrade later?
Still grieving....

I have a Raptor and upgraded to 49BB right away. It saves you time because you don't have to change the bushing with the BB later. Besides, you get rid of any possible slope due to wore out bushings. Just buy the 29BB kit and the upgrade bag with the "missing" 20BB. It's only $15 or so for the additional BB.

Personally I never ordered from Cyberheli yet but know people who did. Doesn't Cyberheli has the page with the approximate shipping costs anymore? It might be around $40 and it also depends on how you want them to ship.
